The meeting is open to the public with limited seating in the Rosenbaum Room. Recommendations of the CDC regarding social distancing will be practiced during the course of the public meeting to slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). If you choose not to attend in person and you wish to submit public comments, email support@cityofterrell.org and title the email ”Public Comment”. All public comments submitted by 12:00 pm on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 will be provided to the City Council members and read into the record for the Tuesday, March 16, 2021 City Council Meeting. ACCOMPLISHMENTS • SUCCESSFULLY IMPLEMENTED PHASE 1 OF A NEW ELECTRONIC TICKET SYSTEM THAT IS ACCESSED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, RECORDS DEPARTMENT, AND MUNICIPAL COURT. • CURRENTLY UTILIZING COURT BALIFFS TO SERVE ARREST WARRANTS AND MAKE PHONE CALLS TO VIOLATORS THAT HAVE OUTSTANDING COURT BALANCES. • THE COURT HAS TRANSITIONED TO OUR NEW LOCATION AT TERRELL POLICE HEADQUARTERS. THOUGH STATE REGULATIONS PREVENT ANY IN PERSON COURT DUE TO COVID 19, WE CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE ANY BACKLOGS IN MUNICIPAL COURT. ZOOM HEARINGS ARE UP TO DATE AND BEING SCHEDULED ACCORDING TO STATE REGULATIONS. • A VIDEO SYSTEM HAS BEEN PUT IN PLACE TO ALLOW THE MUNICIPAL JUDGE TO CONDUCT VIDEO ARRAIGNMENTS AFTER HOURS, ON WEEKENDS, AND IN OTHER SITUATIONS WHERE VIDEO ARRAIGNMENTS WOULD BE SAFER FOR THE JAIL STAFF.
