Board of Zoning Appeals

TOWN OF THUNDERBOLT BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS MEETING WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9, 2025 AGENDA HEARING REGULAR MEETING 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Mayor Williams at 6:305pm. Those in attendance were Mayor Dana Williams and Council Members: David Crenshaw, Brooks Barbaree, Edward Drohan, Lawrence Ward, Bethany Skipper-Greer and James Lavin. Staff in attendance were Town Administrator Matthew Walker, Clerk, Jan LeViner, Town Attorney Charlie Barrow, and Consultant Ashley Goodrich. 2. Consideration to approve the agenda. Council Member Ward made a motion to approve the agenda. Second by Council Member Crenshaw. Vote was unanimous to approve, 6-0. 3. Consideration to approve minutes from March 12, 2025. Council Member Ward made a motion to approve. Council Member David Crenshaw seconded. Vote was unanimous to approve, 6-0. 4. Consideration to approve/deny Setback Variance, 3202 Oakwood Drive, Petitioner: Zackary Goodwin. Town Administrator Walker approached the Board. He stated the question that could eliminate some of the issue is if the Pierce Boulevard in considered the front of the property or side. The property was granted a variance on the rear setback which is now 11’ 4”. If the petitioner makes a straight line subdivision, he is not asking for a new variance only for the continued allowance of what was already allowed in the past. Mayor Williams further stated, if the petitioner has his address changed to Pierce Blvd there is no need for a variance. It would just be a continuation of the actual variance that has already been approved. Council Member Drohan made a motion to approve the request with the contingency he move the mailbox and address to Pierce Blvd. Council Member Lavin seconded. Vote was unanimous to approve, 6-0. 5. Adjournment Council Member Ward made a motion to adjourn. Council Member Crenshaw seconded. Vote was unanimous to approve 6-0. Council Member Ward made a motion to return to regular session. Council Member Skipper-Greer seconded. Vote was unanimous to approve, 6-0.
