Public Hearing: House Bill 581

Town of Thunderbolt Public Hearing, February 12, 2025 Mayor Williams called the Public Hearing to order at 5:30PM, Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Those in attendance were David Crenshaw, Lawrence Ward, Dr. Edward Drohan, James Lavin and Brooks Barbaree. Also in attendance were Charles Barrow, Town Attorney and Jan LeViner, Town Clerk. Dr. Drohan delivered the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Approval of Meeting Agenda. Council Member Ward made a motion to approve as amended. Council Member Crenshaw seconded. Vote was unanimous 5-0 to approve. Mayor Williams opened the Public Hearing. Mayor Williams explained House Bill 581 as it relates to Stephens Day and ad valorem property tax bills. He stated what is before Mayor and Council tonight is to discuss options and whether to opt-out or opt-in of the House Bill. Beth Goette approached Mayor and Council. Ms. Goette asked Mayor Williams to further explain the House Bill. Mayor Williams answered her questions and thanked Ms. Goette. Trey Conners approached Mayor and Council. Mr. Conners stated he is in favor of opting-out of the House Bill. Mayor Williams thanked Mr. Conners for his comments. Mayor Williams closed the Public Haring. Council Member Crenshaw made a motion to adjourn. Council Member Ward seconded. Vote was unanimous to approve, 5-0.
