Minutes FOR LAKE COMMITTEE
A Lake Committee was held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 5:00 PM in the Council Chambers
at City Hall, 819 Superior Avenue, Tomah, WI.
Call to Order / Roll Call
Roll Call was taken with Commissioners Duane Chapman, Kevin Arkeketa, Lamont Kiefer, Richard
Yarrington, and Lee Lang. Also present was Bob Micheel, Director Brandy Leis, Mayor Paul Dwyer and
City Administrator Nick Morales.
Approve Minutes
Motion by Yarrington and seconded by Lange to approve January minutes as presented. All ayes. Motion
carried.
Warden Update
Nothing to report.
Weed Management
Sediment Trap – The clean out on the SW corner of the lake is completed. Regrading and seeding will be
done in the spring.
Solitude Curly- Leaf Pondweed Permitting Application 2026 – Motion by Arkeketa and seconded by
Chapman to approve permit application. All ayes. Motion carried. An addendum will need to be signed at a
later date for the actual treatment.
Butts Park Forebay Maintenance – Motion by Chapman and seconded by Arkeketa to receive a proposal
from Solitude for muck removal. All ayes. Motion carried.
Weed Tool Loaner Program – No update
Adaptive Management
Director of Monroe County Land Conservation, Bob Micheel spoke on the farmland preservations survey.
They are looking to collect data specific to agriculture for updating the farmland preservation for Monroe
County.
Climate Change Task Force Update
Resilient ag workshop was held in Cashton. The workshop hosted exhibitors from local ag businesses and
conservation organizations. It was well received and possibly looking to bring future workshops to the
Tomah area.
Next meeting for the Monroe County Land Conservation is on April 1, 2026.
Monroe County Land Conservation, Solid Waste and Monroe County Highway Department have
collaborated together to host an “adopt a highway” summit on April 25, 2026, in Sparta. Flyers and more
information to come.
Dam Lightning Strike
Parts were received on March 10, 2026 and maintenance will be conducted on March 23, 2026.
Boat Dock Approvals
No Applications at this time.
Public Dock in Butts Park
Director Protz and Director Leis will work together on getting an additional dock placed in Butts Park.

Changes in Boat Dock Specifications
Boat dock ordinance has been approved by Council and the new permit applications have been updated
and uploaded to the appropriate sites.
Monroe County Land Conservation Banquet Donation
It was not budgeted for a donation to the Monroe County Land Conservation therefore, no donation was
made for 2026.
Informational Sign Board in Winnebago Park
Chairman Lamont Kiefer has been working with Director Joe Protz on getting a sign from Zinglers.
Lake Committee Member Search
Lee Lang’s term ends in April of 2026 and had informed the committee of his plan to retire
Chairman Updates
Chairman Lamont Kiefer announced that he will be stepping down as Chairman and a member of the Lake
Committee.
Adjourn
Motion by Lee and seconded by Yarrington to adjourn the meeting at 7:10 pm. All ayes. Motion carried.
Next meeting will be held on May 21, 2026 at 5 pm.
