MINUTES OF SPECIAL BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS MEETING CITY OF TOMBALL, TEXAS THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2014 6:00 P.M. 1.0 Call to Order at 6:01 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Ford. Other members present were: Board Member Wolfe Board Member Hemby Board Member Tynes Board Member Gray – Absent Others present: Community Development Director – Craig Meyers City Engineer – Lori Lakatos Assistant City Planner – Rodney Schmidt City Attorney – Loren Smith Community Development Coordinator – Amelia Vasquez 1.1 Election of Chairman and Vice Chairman Board Member Hemby made a motion to nominate John Ford for the position of Chairman; second by Board Member Tynes. Motion carried unanimously. Board Member Hemby made a motion to nominate Brett Tynes for the position of Vice Chair; second by Board Member Wolfe. Motion carried unanimously. 2.0 No Public Comments were received. 3.0 Reports and Announcements Craig Meyers, Community Development Director, introduced Amelia Vasquez as the new Minutes Special Board of Adjustments Meeting September 11, 2014 Page 2 of 3 Community Development Coordinator and Board Secretary. 4.0 Motion was made by Board Member Tynes, second by Board Member Hemby, to approve the Minutes of Special Board of Adjustments Meeting of August 14, 2014. Motion carried unanimously. 5.0 New Business: 5.1 Consideration to approve BOA Case P14-165: Request by Keary and Kelly Barnes for two variances from the City of Tomball Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance to allow for the construction of a single-family residence and attached garage. The variances requested include: (1) to allow a single-family residence to have a 15-foot side building setback where Section 15.4.B.2 of the Zoning Ordinance requires a 25- foot side building setback in the Single-Family Estate Residential-20 (SF-20-E) District; and (2) to allow an attached garage to have a 10.5-foot side building setback where Section 15.4.B.2 of the Zoning Ordinance requires a 25-foot side building setback in the SF-20-E District. The project site is approximately 0.85 acres, generally located between Helen Lane and Lost Creek Road, north of Wildwood Drive, is zoned SF-20-E District, and is legally described as Lot 4, Block 3, Hunterwood Section 1. Craig Meyers, Community Development Director, presented the staff report. Applicant, Keary Barnes (13319 Wildwood Dr., Tomball, TX 77375) spoke on behalf of the request. The Public Hearing was opened by Chairman Ford at 6:15 p.m. Steven Vaughan (13322 Wildwood Dr., Tomball, TX 77375) spoke in favor of the request. Hearing no additional comments, the Public Hearing was closed at 6:19 p.m. Motion was made by Board Member Tynes to approve BOA Case P14-165; second by Board Member Hemby. Vote was as follows: Chairman Ford _Aye_ Board Member Wolfe _Aye_ Board Member Hemby _Aye_ Board Member Tynes _Aye_ Motion carried; 4 votes Aye, 0 votes Nay.
