MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL AND TOMBALL PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING CITY OF TOMBALL, TEXAS MONDAY, JANUARY 17, 2011 5:00 P.M. 1.0 Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gretchen Fagan. Other members present were: Councilman Quinn Councilman Stoll Councilman Brown Councilman Townsend Councilman Dodson Planning and Zoning Commission members present: Chair – Lori Wallace Vice Chair – Tom Crofoot Commissioner – Mary Harvey Commissioner – John Mottershaw Commissioner – Barbara Tague Others present: City Manager – George Shackelford Assistant City Manager – Christal Kliewer City Secretary – Doris Speer City Attorney – Scott Bounds Assistant to the City Manager – Shawn Cox Director of Engineering and Planning – Mark McClure City Planner – Kelly Violette Assistant City Engineer – Lori Lakatos Assistant City Planner - Rodney Schmidt Building Official – David Allen Fire Marshal – Doug Sanguedolce Fire Inspector – Tommy Nicholson E&P Administrative Assistant – Brandy Pate  Minutes Special Joint City Council and Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting January 17, 2011 Page 2 of 3 2.0 No public comments were received. 3.0 Workshop Session: 3.1 The Tomball City Council and the Tomball Planning and Zoning Commission members entered into a Workshop session for the following purposes: Mark McClure provided a recap of the December 13, 2010 Special Tomball City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission meeting; workshop continued. A. Discussion of the Development Review Process and Current Codes Presentations were given by David Allen, Building Official, and Doug Sanguedolce, Fire Marshall, regarding current review processes and codes in the Building and Fire Departments. B. Review of Roles and Responsibilities of the Development Review Committee Mayor Fagan called a recess at 6:04 p.m.; upon reconvening at 6:12 p.m., the workshop continued: C. Discussion of Development Review Process Improvement Recommendations Kelly Violette presented information regarding City staff recommendations to improve the current development review process. George Shackelford advised that City staff will compile Council’s requests and recommendations from the December 13, 2010 and January 17, 2011 special meetings and present them at a future workshop. 3.2 Consensus of the Council was unanimous to set February 7, 2011 as the next date for a Joint City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission Workshop to discuss Possible Changes to the Zoning Ordinance 4.0 Motion was made by Councilman Stoll, second by Councilman Townsend, to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
