MINUTES OF SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING CITY OF TOMBALL, TEXAS MONDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2017 5:00 P.M. 1.0 Call to Order The Council meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Mayor Fagan. Other members present: Councilman Ford Councilman Stoll Councilman Degges Councilman Townsend Councilman Klein Quinn Others present: City Manager – George Shackelford Assistant City Manager – Rob Hauck City Secretary – Doris Speer 2.0 No public comments were received. 3.0 New Business: 3.1 Motion was made by Councilman Townsend, second by Councilman Stoll, to adopt $0.111455 as the Portion of the Tax Rate to Fund the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) Fund for Fiscal Year 2017-2018. Motion carried unanimously. 3.2 Motion was made by Councilman Townsend, second by Councilman Stoll, to adopt $0.230000 as the Portion of the Tax Rate to Fund the Interest and Sinking (Debt Service) Fund for Fiscal Year 2017-2018. Motion carried unanimously. 3.3 Motion was made by Councilman Stoll, second by Councilman Townsend, to read Ordinance No. 2017-33 by caption only on First Reading. Motion carried unanimously. Minutes Special City Council Meeting October 9, 2017 Page 2 of 2 Motion was made by Councilman Stoll, second by Councilman Ford, that the property tax rate be increased by the adoption of a tax rate of $0.341455/$100, which is effectively 1 0.26% increase in the tax rate, and to adopt, on First Reading, Ordinance No. 2017-33, an Ordinance of the City of Tomball, Texas, Setting the Tax Levy of $0.341455 for the Year 2017 on All Taxable Real and Personal Property Located in the City of Tomball, Texas; Providing for Penalty, Interest, and Additional Penalty on Taxes Not Timely Paid; and Providing Other Matters Relating to the Subject. Vote was as follows: Councilman Ford Aye Councilman Stoll Aye Councilman Degges Aye Councilman Townsend Aye Councilman Klein Quinn Aye Motion carried unanimously. 3.4 Mayor Fagan announced that Final Voting on the Proposed 2017 Tax Rate will be held at the Regular Council Meeting on October 16, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. No action necessary. 4.0 Motion was made by Councilman Townsend, second by Councilman Stoll, to adjourn.
