Tourism Advisory Committee Special Meeting

MINUTES OF SPECIAL TOURISM ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING CITY OF TOMBALL, TEXAS MONDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2011 6:00 P.M. 1.0 Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Chair Holly Cook. Other Committee members present were: Ken Shuman Mary Harvey Jeffie Cappadonna Beverly Leday Rodney Hutson Ronald Tocci Members absent: Kevin Lala Others present: Assistant to City Manager – Shawn Cox City Secretary – Doris Speer 2.0 No Public Comments were received. 3.0 Motion was made by Mary Harvey, second by Rodney Hutson, to approve the minutes of the Special February 16, 2011 Tourism Advisory Committee meeting. Motion carried unanimously. 4.0 New Business: 4.1 Shawn Cox, Rick Davis, and Matt Davis presented an overview regarding Main Street Crossing’s grant application for HOT funds, in the amount of $23,479 to assist in an  Minutes Tourism Advisory Committee February 28, 2011 Page 2 of 2 advertising campaign to promote Tomball during Main Street Crossing’s weekly Wednesday night concerts. Motion was made by Rodney Hutson, second by Jeffie Cappadonna, to recommend approval of Main Street Crossing’s grant application and recommendation to City Council for an advertising services agreement between the City of Tomball and Main Street Crossing. Motion carried unanimously. 4.2 Discussion was held regarding comparison TAC boards and projects, ideas regarding new events and the expansion of current events/festivals/venues, and possibility of a shopping-style map for business, restaurants, and public areas. No action needed. For the April 25, 2011 TAC meeting, Rosalie Dillon will present information regarding various events the have been held or are scheduled for the Depot and months that are ‘flat’ regarding events. 4.5 Shawn Cox presented information regarding the City’s Hotel Occupancy Fund financial history. No action needed. 4.0 Motion was made by Mary Harvey, second by Beverly Leday, to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned. PASSED AND APPROVED this 28th day of April 2011.
