COUNCIL CONFERENCE MEETING MINUTES MAY 6, 2008 CITY HALL – 5:00 PM A Conference Meeting of the City Council of the City of Trenton, New Jersey, was held on the above date at 5:14 p.m. in the Council Conference Room, City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Council President Paul M. Pintella. Council President announced that adequate public notice had been provided to the public specifying the time and place for this meeting in accordance with the Open Public Meeting Act. FY 2007-2008 annual notice was mailed to the Times and the Trentonian Newspapers, posted on the first floor bulletin board in City Hall, and filed in the City Clerk’s Office on June 21, 2007 by Resolution No. 07-316. The agenda for this meeting was mailed, posted and filed on May 2, 2008. ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Mr. Coston, Ms. Lartigue, Mr., Segura (arrived at 5:16 pm), Ms. Staton, Mr. Pintella – 5 ABSENT: Messrs. Bethea, Melone – 2 Council President Pintella – (1) Announced that Disclosure Statements had to be filed by Law as of April 30, 2008. (2) Annual meeting notice was going to be reviewed next Tuesday at Council Conference. (3) Asked Council members to notify the city clerk’s office of any ABC matters they might have pending before renewal. (4) Gave his condolences to Ms. Linda Kelsey on the passing of her father. (5) Update on the Zoning Board and Parking Authority applications and responses. DOCKET REVIEW: Appearance: Renee Haynes, Chief of Staff Jane Feigenbaum, Business Administrator Council reviewed the docket items. PUBLIC COMMENTS: Paul Harris, 137 Centre Street – Spoke regarding Resolutions #5eer relating to a vehicle locator, #5iir regarding the School Budget and #5xxr developing 200 Hamilton Avenue; asked if police representation could be at Council meetings. Patricia Stewart, 679 Lamberton Street – Will the bus being purchased by recreation be available to the senior centers; appreciated Councilwoman Lartigue requesting finance information on developers. City Council Conference: Minutes May 6, 2008 1 Dion Clark, 323 Walnut Avenue – Questioned if PSE&G was sending notices when service is turned off; whatever happened with the issue of dogs on Southard Street that Mr. LA Parker wrote of; he thanked Director Pucciatti for the work being done on Walnut Avenue with the abandoned properties; he also asked Council members if any of them owned rental properties. James Fouse, 13 Cavell Avenue – He thanked Council for doing a good job; why is the director willing to spend $200,000 when you can trade the old guns for new ones free; the City is broke and raising taxes. Ms. Everett, 301 Cummings Avenue – Wanted to know what was happening with Jules Tavern. Donald Brokate, 104 Cornwall Avenue – Questioned the amendment to the Train Station Redevelopment Plan, he felt that the document was written for the developer. Rafael Valentin, 225 Kensington Avenue – Spoke regarding Ordinance #1do-Train Station Redevelopment Plan; the sale of the Water Utility. If the sale does not go through how is the City going to cover the gap in the budget? Monroe Laremore, 1446 Stuyvesant Avenue – We need to stand and make plans for the future; people should take care of their property, if not it should be taken from them; Trenton High School should be painted; he gave Council Members a list of suggestions. CIVIC MATTERS: Councilman Coston – (1) Asked Administration if the City was going to get a contract with Auto Zone like the State did. (2) Wanted to know the cost per year of the horses and the mounted police officers. (3) Asked Administration to contact Mr. Alexander concerning the payroll deduction for the Firemen insurance they provide. (4) Wanted to know the status of the Vice Unit. Councilwoman Staton – (1) Commended Public Works for the great job they are doing on Southard Street, and the Recreation Department on a successful May Day Celebration. (2) Library on North Clinton Avenue was named to the National Historic Register. (3) Stated that police presentation should be at Council meetings. (4) The Police Department should do something about the ATV issue. Councilman Segura – (1) Asked Director Montano for an update on the corner of Hamilton and N. Clinton Avenue. Councilwoman Lartigue – (1) Asked to have the bathrooms open at the little league in Cadwalader Park.
