A MOTION TO APPOINT TIM JOHNSON AND WILLIAM STEELE TO THE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS FOR A VACATED TERMS ENDING ON DECEMBER 31, 2025. Motion – To appoint Tim Johnson and William Steele. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 894.01, IMPOSITION AND RATE OF TAX; MOTOR VEHICLE DEFINED. (First Reading) 3. AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING NEW CHAPTER 892 OF TITLE FOUR OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF TRENTON REGARDING MUNICIPAL INCOME TAXES FOR TAXABLE YEARS BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2023, INCLUDING CHANGES ENACTED IN OHIO HOUSE BILL 33. (First Reading) 4. (First Reading) REPORTS 1. Finance Director, Matthew Mesisklis a. Spoke to working with a representative from the Ohio auditor of the state to get Trenton enrolled in the Ohio open checkbook, which will allow residents and around the state to see fund breakdown, revenues, and expenditures of every expense in the city of Trenton. 2. Clerk of Council, Stanislav Beresford a. Spoke to regarding planning commission, informed council according to codified ordinances there will need to be one council member on the board at the time of swearing in there will be two. Asked if Council would like to appoint a council member before January or after new Council is sworn in. Wished everyone a happy thanksgiving. 3. City Manager, Marcos Nichols a. Reported that last week, Assistant City Manager, Nicole Ard and Marcos attended Ready Cincinnati, Regional Economic Development Agency, Ready Cincinnati’s partners breakfast. The city of Trenton was awarded the Duke Energy Visionary Achievement Award in economic development. Mr. Nichols also requested to go into executive session to consider confidential information related to marketing City of Trenton REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES November 16th, 2023 - 7:30 p.m. plans, specific business strategy, production techniques, trade secrets, or personal financial statements of an applicant for economic development and assistance and confer with legal counsel. To consider employment or compensation of a public employee or official. AUDIENCE OF COUNCIL Ms. Harris- Congratulated Marcos and City Staff on the award. Thanked the department heads the city manager and finance director, for showing the proposed budget in a separate committee meeting. Ms. Harris was very impressed with the funds that the city has and capitalizing on the investments. Ms. Harris also attended the parks board meeting this past week, appreciated the parks board asking veterans for their opinions. Congratulated Mr. Nichols, Mr. Croucher and Vice Mayor- Perry for being elected to City Council. Ms. Harris added that she attends Trenton Grace Point Nazarene Church, there was a question asked regarding an indoor place to walk. Trenton Grace Point Nazare Church has a gymnasium, that is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:30am to 9:00am. Ms. Harris is excited for the tree lighting on November 25th and the State Street Coffee Truck. Encouraged all the residents to come out, wished everyone a happy thanksgiving. Ms. Combs- Agreed with Ms. Harris and wished everyone a happy thanksgiving. Ms. Combs is very thankful because she became a grandma for the first time this week (Congratulations!). Mr. Perry – Congratulated Marcos and Nicole for the duke award. Marcos did emphasize that the award was not just him and Nicole but multiple people on city staff. Mr. Perry Congratulated new members on the Board of Zoning Appeals. Mr. Perry wished everyone a happy thanksgiving and reminded everyone of the tree lighting and thanked Mr. Croucher for the spectacles. Mr. Agee – Congratulated all individuals that have been appointed to the new board and newly elected and reelected council members. Mr. Agee wished everyone a happy and safe thanksgiving. Mr. Agee added that the city has a food pantry box, Mr. Agee noticed that it was empty and reminded that if anyone has leftover canned goods that think about donating it to the food pantry box, it will get used and wanted to encourage everyone to fill it up. Mr. Agee followed up by looking at the election results in Butler County which had a voter turnout of 45.8% based on the board of elections website. Mr. Agee encouraged citizens and everyone to go out and vote when the opportunity is given. Mayor Woodrey commented on Mr. Agee’s point and wondered if the voter percentage would increase if citizens could vote inside city limits. Mayor Woodrey stated that the city of Trenton is the only city out of the six cities in Butler County, where registered voters must drive outside of city limits. Ms. Montgomery – No reports. City of Trenton REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES November 16th, 2023 - 7:30 p.m. Vice-Mayor Perry –Thanked the citizens of Trenton for giving him the opportunity to serve them, Vice Mayor Perry is honored and looks forward to continuing to serve. Congratulated, Mr. Croucher and Mr. Nichols and looks forward to serving with them. Vice Mayor Perry noted the sleigh out in the lobby of civic hall and encouraged everyone to fill it up with toys. Vice Mayor Perry concluded by wishing everyone a happy thanksgiving. Mayor Woodrey –Congratulated Councilwoman Combs on becoming a grandmother, Mayor Woodrey understands the thrill of being a grandparent. Thanked, Mr. Steele, Mr. McSorley and Mr. Johnson on stepping up and volunteering to serve on the BZA, appreciates citizens for being apart of any board, commission or committee. Encouraged anyone who wants to join to head over to City of Trenton’s website. Mayor Woodrey followed up by congratulating Vice Mayor Perry on his reelection, Mr. Nichols on coming back to city council and Mr. Croucher on being elected to serve. Mayor Woodrey further added by congratulating, city manager and city staff on the duke award. Mayor Woodrey stated that if “Mr. Nichols wasn’t the city manager, we wouldn’t be getting this because previous city managers didn’t put the effort for it”. Wished everyone a safe and happy thanksgiving and hoped that the food would be good. Mayor Woodrey concluded by encouraging everyone to come out to the Christmas tree lighting on Saturday, November 25th from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
