Monica Houston, Teacher of Economics & African American History at
Trotwood High School, spoke about her efforts to educate students about local
government. Ms. Houston brought several Trotwood High School students to
the meeting.

Cross Month. Volunteer, Joseph Prince was presented with a Proclamation

An Ordinance amending the official zoning map of the City of Trotwood, Ohio
for properties on Salem Avenue from the Southern City Corporation Line to
Brenton Drive from "R-B Regional Business District to the "N-B" Neighborhood
Business District. Planning & Development Director, Jung-Han Chen,
explained that Salem Avenue needed an updated policy to align future
development (See Map) Bars not allowed in "N-B" City of Dayton, Harrison
TWP which are adjacent communities close by. ROLL CALL:

percentage of the net sales proceeds from the sale of surplus property received

Mayor requested a motion, the motion was made by Council Member Brown
and second by Council Member Kelley. A Resolution by Trotwood City Council
accepting the proposal of Future iQ Inc. for the City of Trotwood strategic
planning process and authorizing the city manager to enter into contract with
Future iQ Inc. for the commencement of the project at a cost not to exceed

XIII. Old & New Business
Mayor McDonald announce the reception of the Ohio Speaker of the House,
Larry Householder and Ohio State Representative J. Todd Smith to Trotwood,
Ohio March 2, 2019. Mayor McDonald expressed that the speaker and
representative wished to meet and discuss the progress being made in the city
of Trotwood.
Council Member Kelley, exclaimed the progress made and being made the
department of Public Works. Council Member thanked the department for a job
well done during the difficult weather this winter season. Council Member also
expressed his concern for the issues impacting Trotwood High School,
specifically the recent fights that also brought negative media attention to the
district. Council Member Kelley expressed his desire for solutions to bring
harmony back into the school. Council Member Kelley further expressed that
incidents as such leave a negative stain on the entire Trotwood community.
Mayor McDonald stated that the Trotwood School Board was conducting a
special meeting tonight, March 2nd, 2019 to discuss the issue of the fights.
Council Member Page thanked the Trotwood High School students for
attending tonight's City Council meeting. Further expressed the importance of
being involved in their community through the political process. Council
Member also expressed excitement about a new business who has decided to
locate in the Trotwood, OH community. Council Member stated that a public
announcement was soon forthcoming.
Council Member stated that he is happy about resident Jay Young's decision to
serve as a committee member on the Community Reinvestment Area Housing
Council.
Council Member expressed her excitement to the students of Trotwood High
School for attending tonight's City Council Member.
