Planning and Economic Development Committee Meeting
Troy City Council
Monday, October 16, 2017
5:30 p.m.
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Committee Chairman Dean Bodnar.
Roll Call: Committee Chairman Bodnar, Council Member McGrath, Council Member Gulli,
Council Member Kopka, Corporation Counsel Caruso and Commissioner of Planning Steve
Strichman.
Absent: Council Member Ashe-McPherson
Also in attendance were: Council President Mantello, Deputy Mayor Kurzejeski and Council
Member Doherty.
The Committee was updated on 701 River Street. There is a proposal for 84-90 market rate
apartments similar to the School 1 project. The surrounding community is supportive of this
project. A request for a public hearing on this was voted on at the end of the meeting.
The Key Bank building located at 144-46 is for sale. Commissioner Strichman stated there has
been interest in the property and a lot currently owned by the City next to it. The City is looking
for alternative parking locations should that lot be sold.
Commissioner of Planning Steve Strichman gave an update on the South Troy Trail it has been
designed and all easements are in place and the intent is to bid it this fall and go under
construction next year. Commissioner of Planning Steve Strichman stated he is expecting the finalized
Comprehensive Plan early next week.
Committee Chairman Bodnar took a Vote to Hold a Public Hearing for President Street. Vote
passed by a unanimous vote. Committee Chairman Bodnar took a Vote for a Public Hearing for
144-146 Fourth Street. Vote passed by a unanimous vote
