CITY OF TRUSSVILLE MINUTES SEPTEMBER 2, 2025 SPECIAL SESSION – CANVASSING BOARD The City Council met in special session as the canvassing board on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 9 am to review the returns from the August 26 municipal elections. Those members present were as follows: Council President Ben Short Councilor Jaime Anderson Councilor Lisa Bright Councilor Perry Cook Councilor Alan Taylor Others present in their official capacity: Mayor Buddy Choat City Attorney Rick Stotser City Clerk Dan Weinrib The city clerk reported that ten provisional ballots were submitted to the Jefferson County Board of Registrars. Of those, eight were confirmed city voters; their ballots would be added to the final tally. The remaining two were Advent Circle voters who lived across the street from – thus outside of - the city limits. While the canvassing board reviewed the election tapes, the city clerk opened eight sets of envelopes. Each candidate for public office received at least one additional vote. The city clerk then announced the final numerical total received by each candidate. Councilor Taylor then moved, and Councilor Bright seconded the motion to approve a proposed resolution certifying the results with the following outcomes: Mayor-Elect Ben Short Council Place No. 1-Elect Ben Horton Council Place No. 3 Jaime Melton Anderon Council Place No. 4-Elect Jim Miller Council Place No. 5-Elect Kimberly Farr UNANIMOUS Resolution No. 2025-38 With nothing left to review, President Short adjourned the meeting at 9:13 am.
