MINUTES COMMITTEE ON AGING 12 NOON WEDNESDAY, January 18, 2017 TULARE SENIOR COMMUNITY CENTER, 201 NORTH “F” STREET BILL THOMPSON ROOM MISSION STATEMENT TO PROMOTE A COMMUNITY MAKING TULARE THE MOST DESIRABLE PLACE TO LIVE, LEARN, PLAY, WORK, WORSHIP AND PROSPER I. CALL TO ORDER The Regular Meeting of the Committee on Aging was called to order at 12:08 p.m. by Jackie Zupp at the Tulare Senior Community Center, Bill Thompson Room. MEMBERS PRESENT: Jackie Zupp, Pam Malloy, Kathy Perryman, and Priscilla Musgrove MEMBERS ABSENT: Albert Lemus STAFF PRESENT: Brian Beck and Lorraine Zorn II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The flag salute was conducted. III. CITIZEN COMMENTS – At this time introductions were made by the board, Priscilla Musgrove, a new board member, and Scott Mills, College of Sequoias Intern. IV. COMMUNICATIONS - None. V. CONSENT CALENDAR (1) The minutes of November 16, 2016, were M/S/P by Pam Malloy and Priscilla Musgrove and unanimously approved. VI. SCHEDULED CITIZEN OR GROUP PRESENTATIONS – None. VII. GENERAL BUSINESS a. NUTRITION REPORT: Lorraine Zorn distributed the November report and presented the December 2016 Report. Lorraine also passed out the CARS reports (California Aging Reporting System) that showed enrollments and service units. The report showed a steady increase of over the 1000 C1  (Congregate) meals served per month. Those numbers haven’t been reached for many years. b. RECREATION REPORT: Lorraine Zorn distributed the November report and presented the December 2016 Report. The annual Christmas Luncheon was very well attended, 94, compared to last year it was 68. A delicious, festive meal was served with apple pie and lots of Christmas giveaways! Trips – Chukchansi Casino trips have been scheduled for the 2017: March 16, June 15 and September 14. New Orleans & the Deep South, October 15th—22nd, 2017; Double $2,599 Single $3,199; Highlights: French Quarter, WWII Museum, Cajun Cooking School, Baton Rogue, Natches, Martin Accordions, Vermilionville, Bayou Cruise. Seats Guaranteed until 4/15/2017. Special Events – Upcoming Luncheons: The Volunteer Recognition Ceremony will be held Friday, February 10, 11 am. Approximately 90 senior and adult volunteers will be honored and a total of 90,000 hour were donated for the 2016 year. There will also be a Superbowl Party Luncheon, Friday, February 3rd, 11 am. We will have Nachos, Not-so-Hot Wings with celery and ranch dip; Pulled Pork Slider, Homemade Potato Chips and fruit. Classes & Activities – None. c. TULARE SENIOR SERVICES REPORT: Jackie Zupp reported that the bingo and dance programs are doing very well. She did mention that the dance committee did say that Lorraine said the handicap chair lift did not work. Lorraine stated that she never said that statement to the dance committee and that the chair lift does work. VIII. OLD BUSINESS – None.. IX. NEW BUSINESS – None. X. ITEMS OF BOARD INTEREST XI.
