MINUTES COMMITTEE ON AGING 12 NOON WEDNESDAY, April 19, 2017 TULARE SENIOR COMMUNITY CENTER, 201 NORTH “F” STREET BILL THOMPSON ROOM MISSION STATEMENT TO PROMOTE A COMMUNITY MAKING TULARE THE MOST DESIRABLE PLACE TO LIVE, LEARN, PLAY, WORK, WORSHIP AND PROSPER I. CALL TO ORDER The Regular Meeting of the Committee on Aging was called to order at 12:02 p.m. by Albert Lemus at the Tulare Senior Community Center, Bill Thompson Room. MEMBERS PRESENT: Albert Lemus, Jackie Zupp, Pam Malloy, Priscilla Musgrove, Kathy Perryman MEMBERS ABSENT: None. STAFF PRESENT: Brian Beck and Lorraine Zorn GUESTS: Brenda Salazar, Tulare County of Family Services, Victim Advocate, 50 Years & Older II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The flag salute was conducted. III. CITIZEN COMMENTS – Lorraine introduced Brenda Salazar. IV. COMMUNICATIONS - None. V. CONSENT CALENDAR (1) The minutes of March 15, 2017, were M/S/P by Jackie Zupp and Pam Malloy and unanimously approved. VI. SCHEDULED CITIZEN OR GROUP PRESENTATIONS – None. VII. GENERAL BUSINESS a. NUTRITION REPORT: Lorraine Zorn presented the March 2017 report. b. RECREATION REPORT: Lorraine Zorn presented March 2017 Report. Lorraine stated that the senior softball program began. Trips – The there was a full load, 54 passengers, that went on the Chukchansi Casino trip in March, the next trip is scheduled for June 15. Special Events – The Tulare Senior Softball Tournament was cancelled due to lack of team registration. The St. Patrick’s Day luncheon was fantastic, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food and the great raffle prizes supplied by Linwood Meadows rep, Christy Thompson. Upcoming special events are Fiesta Day, sponsored by AMDAL and Mother’s Day, sponsored by Tulare Nursing & Rehabilitation, May 5 and 12. Lorraine stated that the Moo Mile & 5K coordination is going as planned. Classes & Activities – None. c. TULARE SENIOR SERVICES REPORT: Jackie Zupp stated the TSS board appointed two new officers, Richard Flores and Carmen Quinonez. There is still one vacancy. VIII. OLD BUSINESS – None. IX. NEW BUSINESS – None. X. ITEMS OF BOARD INTEREST XI. CALL TO ORDER II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE III. CITIZEN COMMENTS This is the time for citizens to comment on items within the jurisdiction of the Board. The Board cannot legally discuss or take official action on citizen comments that are introduced today. Each speaker will be allowed three minutes, with a maximum time of 10 minutes per item, unless otherwise extended by the Board. IV. COMMUNICATIONS Communications are to be submitted 10 days prior to a meeting to be considered for this section of the Agenda. No action will be taken on matters listed under communications; however, the Board may direct staff to schedule issues raised during communications for a future agenda. Citizen comments will be limited to three minutes, per topic, unless otherwise extended by the Board. V. CONSENT CALENDAR: All Consent Calendar Items are considered routine and will be enacted in one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these matters unless a request is made, in which event the item will be removed from the Consent Calendar to be discussed and voted upon by a separate motion.
