MINUTES COMMITTEE ON AGING 12 NOON WEDNESDAY, January 17, 2018 TULARE SENIOR COMMUNITY CENTER, 201 NORTH “F” STREET BILL THOMPSON ROOM MISSION STATEMENT TO PROMOTE A COMMUNITY MAKING TULARE THE MOST DESIRABLE PLACE TO LIVE, LEARN, PLAY, WORK, WORSHIP AND PROSPER I. CALL TO ORDER The Regular Meeting of the Committee on Aging was called to order at 12:02 p.m. by Pam Malloy at the Tulare Senior Community Center, Bill Thompson Room. MEMBERS PRESENT: Jackie Zupp, Pam Malloy, Priscilla Musgrove, and Kathy Perryman MEMBERS ABSENT: Albert Lemus and Brian Beck STAFF PRESENT: Lorraine Zorn GUESTS: None. II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The flag salute was conducted. III. CITIZEN COMMENTS – None. IV. COMMUNICATIONS - None. V. CONSENT CALENDAR (1) The minutes of November 15, 2017 were M/S/P by Jackie Zupp and Priscilla Musgrove and unanimously approved. VI. SCHEDULED CITIZEN OR GROUP PRESENTATIONS – None. VII. GENERAL BUSINESS a. NUTRITION REPORT: Lorraine Zorn passed out the December 2017 report. b. RECREATION REPORT: Lorraine Zorn passed out the December 2017 report. Classes & Activities – Upcoming special event luncheons are: Super Bowl Luncheon sponsored by Family Health Care Network, annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony sponsored by Steen & Co. & Family Health Care Network. Upcoming Trips; Chukchansi for 2018, three trips scheduled, March 8, June 14 and September 20. Colette Trips Presentation, January 29, 12:30 PM, on 3 trips, Charming French Canada, August 24-31; The Colorado Rockies, September 22-30; and Hawaiian Adventure, October 25- November 3. Other Special Upcoming Activities: CTAP Presentation, California Telephone Access Program, January 24, 10 AM. Healthy Eating Presentations for the 2018 year, once per month, Starting February 7, 9:15-10:15 AM. The 2018 Sponsor List for the Special Event Luncheons were passed out to all board members. There is on 1-2 sponsors for each luncheon and are sponsoring 2 or more luncheons. They are: Family Heath Care Network, Steen & Co., Tulare Cabrillo Club, United Way of Tulare County, Tulare Nursing & Rehabilitation, Altura centers for Health, and Luso Portugese Club. c. TULARE SENIOR SERVICES REPORT: Jackie reported that TSS did not have their monthly board meeting for December. VIII. OLD BUSINESS – None IX. NEW BUSINESS – None. X. ITEMS OF BOARD INTEREST a. Board member, Pam Malloy asked if the board could meet every other month. Lorraine said she will look at the by-laws and add an item to the next agenda. XI. CALL TO ORDER II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE III. CITIZEN COMMENTS This is the time for citizens to comment on items within the jurisdiction of the Board. The Board cannot legally discuss or take official action on citizen comments that are introduced today. Each speaker will be allowed three minutes, with a maximum time of 10 minutes per item, unless otherwise extended by the Board. IV. COMMUNICATIONS Communications are to be submitted 10 days prior to a meeting to be considered for this section of the Agenda. No action will be taken on matters listed under communications; however, the Board may direct staff to schedule issues raised during communications for a future agenda. Citizen comments will be limited to three minutes, per topic, unless otherwise extended by the Board. V. CONSENT CALENDAR: All Consent Calendar Items are considered routine and will be enacted in one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these matters unless a request is made, in which event the item will be removed from the Consent Calendar to be discussed and voted upon by a separate motion. (1). MINUTES Approve Committee minutes of November 15, 2017. There was no meeting held in December of 2017. SCHEDULED CITIZEN OR GROUP PRESENTATIONS VI. GENERAL BUSINESS (1). NUTRITION a. Nutrition Report. These reports cover congregate and home delivered (hot and frozen) meal participation for the months of November and December 2017. (2). RECREATION-COMMUNITY SERVICES a. Recreation Report. This report cover recreational activities and participation for the months of November and December 2017.
