breaks and City Holidays. Library Staff 10
Lisa: Is the library getting any 3 day weekends?
Heidi: So far we are just getting our regular Sun-Mon. off Board Members
and the holiday is put in our vacation time. Tulare
County has started to close on a few of the Saturdays for
Monday holidays & we will see if this affects how busy we
are.
Programs & Outreach (Food 4 Fines; Volunteer
Recognition recap; Paint Night; COHS graduation
1/20/2018 )
Heidi: Volunteer recognition brunch went well---had
about 40 come. First “Paint Night” will be 1/18; limited to
10 people. FOL paying for supplies; if successful will be
offered every other month.
Jane: Online High School getting ready for first
graduates. Ceremony will be January 20th, 3:30-4:30. Will
have caps and gowns. Mayor scheduled to speak and
Foundation/Advisory Board members welcome to
attend.
Ellen and Donna volunteered to attend the graduation
on behalf of the Advisory Board. Ellen added that she
would like to bring a rose for each graduate to recognize
what an achievement they have made.
Heidi: Adult Reading Challenge will be a year-long
program for adults 16 and older. Saw this at another
library and looked like something good to try here. Every
month readers will choose a different category of book,
take their picture with it and post it online or bring it in
and show a staff member. Staff will initial their game
board and give a ticket for a monthly drawing. If all
reading challenges are met, reader is entered in a grand
prize drawing which will be held next January.
Mollie: We are changing our computer classes and
adding more one-on-one opportunities. One Tuesday
night class and one Saturday morning class will be held
for intermediate learners. The one-on-ones will focus
more on beginners or anyone who just needs a little help
using their phone, laptop or other device.
