Tulare Library Advisory Board Meeting Minutes Tulare Public Library | 475 North M Street | Tulare, CA June 21, 2017, at 4:00pm | TPL Charter Room Facilitator: Lisa Hollingshead | Minutes: Melissa Emerson Attendees: Lisa Hollingshead; Ellen Baker; Michelle Lippincott; Terry Sayre; Donna Schauland; Marissa Moya; Yesenia Zepeda; Traci Myers; Rob Hunt; Heidi Clark; Melissa Emerson; and, Jane Zikratch City of Tulare Mission Statement: To promote a quality of life making Tulare the most desirable community in which to live, learn, play, work, worship and prosper Agenda Topic Speaker Time I. CALL TO ORDER Lisa called the meeting to order at 4:05pm Lisa Hollingshead 2 II. CITIZEN COMMENTS: This is the time for citizens to comment on items within the Lisa Hollingshead 2 jurisdiction of the Advisory Board. The Board cannot legally discuss or take official action on citizen comments that are introduced today. Each speaker will be allowed 3 minutes, with a maximum of 10 minutes per item, unless otherwise extended by the board. None III. COMMUNICATIONS: Communications are to be submitted 10 days prior to a Lisa Hollingshead 2 meeting to be considered for this section of the Agenda. No action will be taken on matters listed under Communications; however, the Board may direct staff to schedule issues raised during Communications for a future agenda. Citizen comments will be limited to 3 minutes per topic, unless otherwise extended by Board. None IV. ITEMS OF STUDENT INTEREST None Marissa Moya & Yesenia 5 Zepeda V. CONSENT CALENDAR: All Consent Calendar items are considered routine and will Lisa Hollingshead 2 be enacted in one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these matters unless a request is made, in which event the item will be removed from the Consent Calendar to be discussed and voted upon by a separate motion.  Approval of Minutes – April 19, 2017 Ellen motioned to approve and Michelle seconded. VI. SCHEDULED CITIZEN OR GROUP PRESENTATIONS None Lisa Hollingshead 2 VII. GENERAL BUSINESS Lisa Hollingshead 3 10  Community Services updates Rob Hunt Heidi Clark hired as new Library Manager. 10 Council meeting for 6/20 postponed to 6/27. 10  Snapshot of Stats & Library Updates Adult stats down, but Youth and Volunteer stats up. Heidi Clark  Programs & Outreach (Glen Delpit, Gutter Garden, etc.) Library Staff Our calendar for June/July is in color as part of the Summer Reading Program. The first adult basket winner was a long- standing patron. Next adult programs are Glen Delpit (Blues musician) and Gutter Gardening by the local Master Gardeners. SRP Kickoff on June 10th had approx. 700 attendees, with 454 attending the 4 showings of the E&M Reptile Family. Several fun and informational youth programs are planned and usually receive good attendance. Jane: Our Summer Reading partner this year is the Tulare Regional Medical Center. We are asking for donations of children’s books to be used in one of the TRMC children’s waiting areas. Employees from TRMC’s Evolutions will be hosting an adult Zumba class at the library in July. Board Members  Suggestions from the Board Suggested from last meeting—Jane researched having a Library Paint Night as a possible fundraiser. Most are held at a restaurant and the company needs a 35 person minimum. Lisa suggested contacting one of her friends who organizes these. VIII. ITEMS OF BOARD MEMBER INTEREST Lisa Hollingshead 2 IX.
