Consideration of Items for Consent Agenda
Mayor Sessions called the Consent Agenda to order at 6:30PM. Those present were Brian West,
Monty Parks, Nancy DeVetter, Barry Brown, Jay Burke and Spec Hosti. Also attending were Dr.
Shawn Gillen, City Manager; Bubba Hughes, City Attorney; Tracy O’Connell, Assistant City
Attorney; George Shaw, Director, Community Development; and Janet LeViner, Clerk of Council.
Mayor Sessions listed the following items on the consent agenda:

Proposed Pay Scale for DPW and W/S
Mayor Sessions called the regular meeting to order. All those present for the consent agenda
were present.

Consideration of Boards, Commissions and Committee Appointments
Planning Commission - 4 seats open

Spec Hosti made to motion to approve the appointment of Elaine McGruder, Whitley
Reynolds, Marie Rodriguez and Martha Williams to the Planning Commission. Monty
Parks seconded. Vote was unanimous to approve.
Historic Preservation Board - one seat open
Mike Goldberg
Spec Hosti made a motion to approve the appointment of Mike Goldberg to the Historic
Preservation Board. Nancy DeVetter seconded. Vote was unanimous to approve, 6-0.
Reports of Staff, Boards, Standing Committees and/or Invited Guest. Limit reports
to 10 minutes.
Todd Smith: Comcast – Channel 7
Citizens to be Heard: Please limit comments to 3 minutes. Maximum allowable
times of 5 minutes.
Nicholas Sears: STVR’s in Residential Areas.
Spec Hosti made a motion to approve the consent agenda. Monty Parks seconded. Vote was
unanimous to approve, 6-0.
Public Hearings
Special Review: requesting to build a cross over – 214 Butler Ave. – Zone C-2 –
40004 07004 – Desoto Beach Condo Association. Barry Brown made a motion to
approve. Spec Hosti seconded. Voting in favor were Brian West, Monty Parks, Barry Brown,
Jay Burke and Spec Hosti. Voting against was Nancy DeVetter. Motion to approve, 5-1.
Variance: requesting to change setbacks – lot 4 Alger Ave. - Zone R-1 – 40020
04004 – Michael Lucas. Monty Parks made a motion to approve. Barry Brown seconded.
Vote was unanimous to approve, 6-0.
Monty Parks made a motion to adjourn to Executive Session to discuss Real Estate and
Litigation. Barry Brown seconded. Vote was unanimous to approve, 6-0.
Monty Parks made a motion to return to regular session. Barry Brown seconded. Vote was
unanimous to approve, 6-0.
Monty Parks made a motion to adjourn. Barry Brown seconded. Vote was unanimous to
approve, 6-0.
Meeting adjourned at 8:10PM.
