Special Council Meeting

Special Meeting, City Council Minutes, May 6, 2021 Mayor Sessions called the Special City Council Meeting to order at 1:45PM. Those present were Jay Burke, Monty Parks, John Branigin, Barry Brown, and Spec Hosti. Also attending were Dr. Shawn Gillen, City Manager; George Shaw, Director, Community Development; and Janet LeViner, Clerk of Council. Nancy DeVetter was excused. Item for Consideration Approval: Film Permit, Paramount Worldwide Productions, “The in Between”, May 10 – 13, 2021. Jay Burke recused. Robyn Rosner approached Mayor and Council to explain in detail the parking requirements. She stated all businesses and resident have been notified of the days of filming and parking requirements. Mayor pro tem Brown asked if they are filming on the beach or in the parking lot as he is concerned with traffic flow. Donnie Martinez, Production Manager, approach Mayor and Council. Mr. Martinez explained they are doing everything possible not to disrupt the business, residents and beach goers. Mayor Sessions stated she would like to have conversations with Council and the City Attorney regarding adding impact fees for filming in the future. The revenue would then be allocated for re-nourishment of the beach. Monty Parks made a motion to approve. John Branigin seconded. Vote was unanimous, 4-0. Barry Brown made a motion to adjourn.
