Town of Tyrone Planning Commission Minutes January 9, 2014 Present: Gordon Shenkle, Chairman Cary Dial, Commissioner Wil James, Commissioner Judy Jefferson, Commissioner Kyle Hood, Town Manager Dina Rimi, Zoning and Development Coordinator Patrick Stough, Town Attorney Absent: David Nebergall, Vice- Chairman Call to Order Chairman Shenkle calls the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Appointment of Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Tyrone Planning Commission. Commissioner Dial nominated Commissioner Shenkle for Chairman. Commissioner Dial made a motion for approve Commissioner Shenkle for Chairman. Commissioner Jefferson seconded the motion; approved 3-0. Commissioner Dial nominated Commissioner Nebergall for Vice Chairman. Commissioner Dial made a motion to approve Commissioner Nebergall for Vice Chairman. Commissioner Jefferson seconded the motion; approved 3-0. Approval of Agenda Commissioner James made a motion to approve the agenda. Commissioner Jefferson seconded the motion. Approval of Minutes Commissioner Jefferson made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Commissioner James seconded the motion; approved 3-0. Old Business 1. Discussion regarding Article VII § 7-2 Quality Growth Development District Special Requirements. The Planning Commission discussed many different options that could work along this corridor. The Planning Commission looked at how the building setbacks and landscape buffers would be affected by the different scenarios that were considered. The Planning Commission then agreed to consider the requirement of having the first 20 of the building setback, which is adjacent to Hwy 74, of a property to contain a planted buffer that must be maintained. The Planning Commission requested that legal put a draft of this amendment to be discussed further at the February 13, 2014 Planning Commission workshop. Staff Comments Ms. Rimi informed the Planning Commission of upcoming Items on the agenda for the January 23, 2014 Planning Commission Meeting. Ms. Rimi explained that there will be a request for rezoning for the north east corner of Crabapple Road and Senoia Road. Ms. Rimi went on to explain that there will also be two text amendments one for Article V -2 to change Farm Operations, Parks and Riding Stables from a conditional use to a permitted use and the other is for Article VII section 7-1 B (55) to include the wording parochial school. Ms. Rimi also informed the Planning Commission that at the February 13, 2014 workshop the Planning Commission will be discussing assisted living; this would include the zoning and conditions for this use. Commission Comments Commissioner Dial inquired about the repairs on Valleywood Road. Mr. Hood explained that this is an ongoing item. Mr. Hood explained that due to current weather conditions, the holidays and some other items it is behind schedule but the road should be paved between March and April.
