CITY OF UNIVERSITY PLACE MINUTES Special Meeting of the City Council Monday, October 28, 2024 1. CALL SPECIAL MEETING TO ORDER Mayor Figueroa called the Special Meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Attendance was noted by the City Clerk as follows: Mayor Figueroa, Mayor Pro Tem Wood, Councilmember Worthington, Councilmember McCluskey, Councilmember Grassi, and Councilmember Boykin. Councilmember Flemming is excused. U Staff Present: City Manager Sugg, City Attorney Kaser, Administrative Services Director Petorak, and City Clerk Genetia. N Facilitator: Michael Pendleton (Pendleton Consulting, LLC) O Mayor Figueroa stated that an inquiry was received from The News Tribune requesting for the identity of FF the staff affected by the Executive Session and asked Council to voice their consent or objection. MOTION: By Councilmember Grassi, seconded by Councilmember Boykin to amend the Executive IA Session public announcement detailing the identity of the public employee. IC The motion failed 2 to 4. Councilmember Worthington, Mayor Figueroa, Mayor Pro Tem Wood, and Councilmember McCluskey voted no. 2. EXECUTIVE SESSION – At 5:39 p.m., the City Council recessed to Executive Session for L approximately two hours to review the performance of a public employee as allowed by RCW 42.30.110(1)(g). The Council is not expected to take further action following the Executive Session. D At 7:15 p.m., 8:13 p.m., and 8:27 p.m., Mayor Figueroa announced that the Executive Session is extended to 8:15 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. respectively. 3.
