URBANA FIRE DEPARTMENT FOREIGN FIRE TAX BOARD MEETING DATE: May 12, 2020 TIME: 7:30 a.m. PLACE: Via Zoom MINUTES 1. Call to Order: 0734 Members present: Wallace, Lane, Prendergast, Lauss, Jannusch, Thomas 2. Approval of Minutes of Previous Meeting February 11, 2020 Lane motions to approve, Tristan seconds, motion carries. 3. Approval of the Treasurer’s Report: Money Market: $37,312.24, Checking $10,313.66, Total of $47, 625.90. Check was about $47,625 Chief Lauss motions to approve, Wallace seconds. Motion carries. 4. Public Input: None 5. Old Business a. Picture Board: Chief looked at a 50” TV, waiting on IT and PW. Chief will follow up. b. Fire station recliners: RFP closed Friday. 1 bid for $11,652.52. Lane motions to make the purchase, Chief seconds. Motion carries. c. Kitchen table and chairs Sta.1: 48”x102” solid oak for $1789. Includes putting a vinyl logo and finishing over top of it. Tal motions, Lane seconds, motion carries. Lane working on chairs. d. Refrigerator purchase for station 2: Completed. e. Patio furniture Stations 1&3: Wallace looked and we will not be able to purchase for $1000. 1 table and 3 chairs minimum for sta. 3, 1 big table or 2 tables and 10 chairs for a max of $2000. Chief motions to spend up to $2000, Lane seconds, motion passes. f. Epoxy floor coating Stations 2&3: City has asked that we not do anything to the floors. Item tabled. g. Kitchen table and chairs for Sta.2&3: Tristan will work on getting bid. Lane motions to get a quote for station 2 and 3 separately, then he will call around to get consensus before purchasing. Tristan seconds, motion carries. Victory sanitizing sprayers for Sta. 2, 3, &4: $750 per unit. Tal motions to purchase 2, Wallace seconds, motion carries. Jannusch expressed concern about continued use of the chemical in our stations. Lane asked the Chief to find some training for their use. We will do more research before sprayers are purchased. b. Workout equipment: Looking at a “Smith” machine and Bowflex adjustable dumb bells. Chief will look at getting equipment donated from Carle or U of I. Very limited money in the VERF. Golds gym is closing several facilities and they may be willing to donate equipment. Lane motions to buy various workout equipment for all stations not to exceed $6000, Chief seconds, motion carries. c. End tables for all stations: $3100 for 8 end tables and $171 for side tables, about $1000 total for station 1. Chief motions, Wallace seconds. Motion carries. d. UFD neon sign: Tristan has a quote to refurb the sign, build a plexiglass enclosure and mount the sign. Tal motions to spend $3000 to refurb, enclose, and mount sign to station 1. Lane seconds. Motion carries. e. Elections: May is election month. Thoughts on moving elections to August so we can do a public meeting.
