Tree Advisory Commission Meeting

MEETING NOTICE OF THE URBANA TREE COMMISSION A regular meeting of the Urbana Tree Commission will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Urbana Public Works Department, located at 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, IL. The agenda for this meeting is as follows: 1. Call to Order 2. Roll Call 3. Approval of Minutes 4. Public Input 5. Former Business a. Request from Resident to remove Pin Oak Tree at 301 W. Oregon St. b. EAB ash removal update 6. New Business a. 2017 meeting dates - possible change to Mondays 1:30pm to 3:30pm (March 6, June 5, Sept 4, Dec 4) or Thursdays 8:30am to 10:30am (March 9, June 8, Sept 7, Dec 7) b. Legacy Tree Nominations 1) 204 206 W Washington two American Hophornbeam – Recommend Legacy Rare designation but also could be considered in size or aesthetics category as well. 2) 1402 E Florida Chinese Chestnut – Recommend Legacy Rare designation as this is the only Chinese Chestnut on city right of way. 3) 1904 E Main  a) 66.5” dbh Bur Oak Recommend - Recommend Legacy Historic or Legacy Age designation due to the study of this trees age in the mid-seventies. Tree could also be considered in size or landmark categories. b) 41.5” dbh Chinkapin Oak – Recommend Legacy Size designation as it is the largest known Chinkapin oak within city limits c) 61” Hackberry – Recommend Legacy Aesthetics designation due to this tree’s knurly appearance. Tree could also be considered in size and age categories based on knowledge of Sim Hackberry. c. Proposed Legacy Tree Ordinance Change 7. Adjournment ***
