Page 2 of 4  MINUTES Cemetery Advisory Board Meeting 6:00 PM - Wednesday, June 7, 2023 City Hall Council Chambers The Cemetery Advisory Board of the City of Uvalde was called to order on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 6:00 PM, in the City Hall Council Chambers, with the following members present: COUNCIL PRESENT: COUNCIL ABSENT: STAFF PRESENT: 1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Consider approval of the Cemetery Advisory Board meeting minutes from April 5, 2023. 4. NEW BUSINESS 3A. Discuss possible changes to ordinance amending chapter 2.88 of the Code of Ordinances, regarding cemeteries. Joe A. Cardenas, Assistant City Manager provided board members with a recap of the last meeting and stated that he hopes some of those changes go before City Council at the first meeting in May. Changes to be presented before council are hours of operation of the cemeteries, pricing for cemetery plots, and upright headstones. The proposed hours of operation for cemeteries are 7A-9P. The pricing for plots will change from $450 per plot to $700 per plot, with an additional fee for upright headstones. Lastly, the Cemetery Advisory Board would like for the council to consider granting everyone buried at the City of Uvalde cemeteries the opportunity to place an upright headstone at their gravesite. 3B. As desired by board members. Cemetery Board asked staff if it would be possible to place boulders or another barrier at each cemetery due to high-speed chases on Hwy 90.
