CITY OF VERONA MINUTES COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING AUGUST 20, 2014 1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Jon Hochkammer at 7:03 p.m. 2. Roll call: Jon Hochkammer, Luke Diaz, Jack Linder, Heather Reekie, Brad Stiner, Evan Touchett, Dale Yurs. Absent (excused): Elizabeth Doyle, Mac McGilvray. Also in attendance: Bill Burns, City Administrator; Adam Sayre, Director of Planning and Development, Ron Rieder, Director of Public Works 3. Public Comment None 4. Minutes of the May 19, 2014 Committee of the Whole Meeting. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Yurs, to approve the minutes of the May 19, 2014 Committee of the Whole Meeting. Motion carried 7-0. 5. Discussion Regarding Downtown Projects and Development City staff presented information on the Downtown Study vision and recommendations. The study includes an action plan with short term, mid-term, and long-term recommendations. One of the short-term improvements the City is planning to implement in 2015 is the construction of improvements to the Lincoln Street and Verona Avenue intersection and installation of traffic signals. The City will be working with a landscape architect to take the streetscape recommendations in the plan and develop specific plans and cost estimates that can be used to implement the first phase of improvements in 2015. Staff recommends that improvements to the Military Ridge Trail crossing of South Main Street also be made in 2015 in conjunction with the streetscape improvements. In addition, the City has acquired a property on Park Lane that could be used to construct a municipal parking lot in 2015. There was also discussion of various redevelopment tools available to the City and the potential role for the Community Development Authority. 6. Adjourn.
