FINANCE COMMITTEE
JANUARY 11, 2016
VERONA CITY HALL
1. The meeting was called to order by William “Mac” McGilvray at 6:34 p.m.
2 Roll Call: Elizabeth Doyle, Jack Linder, William “Mac” McGilvray. Also present: Brad
Stiner, Alderperson; Bill Burns, City Administrator.
3. Approval of the 12/14/2015 Finance Committee Minutes: Motion by McGilvray, seconded
by Linder, to approve the 12/14/2015 Finance Committee minutes. Motion carried 3-0.
4. Payment of Bills: Motion by McGilvray, seconded by Doyle, to approve the payment of
bills in the amount of $617,838.97. Motion carried 3-0.
5. Out-of-Office Checks: Motion by McGilvray, seconded by Doyle, to approve the payment
of out-of-office checks in the amount of $61,364.98. Motion carried 3-0.
6. Resolution R-16-002 Designating Public Depositories and Authorizing Financial Signatories
for the City of Verona: Mr. Burns explained that annually the City Council approves the list
of authorized financial institutions where the City may keep funds. In addition, the City’s
signatories are being updated to reflect the appointment of Ellen Clark as City Clerk. Motion
by McGilvray, seconded by Linder, to recommend that the Council approve Resolution R-
16-002. Motion carried 3-0.
7. Approval of Toot & Kate’s Application for Economic Development Grant for a Reserve
Class B Liquor License: Mr. Burns stated that Toot & Kate’s has applied for a Reserve
Class B Liquor License for a wine bar business that they plan to open in February. State
Statutes set the fee for a Reserve Class B Liquor License at $10,000. The City has an
economic development grant available in the amount of $9,500 that would reduce the net fee
for the license to $500. Motion by McGilvray, seconded by Doyle, to recommend that the
Council approve the application for an Economic Development Grant in the amount of
$9,500 for Toot & Kate’s contingent upon approve of the liquor license and payment of the
$10,000 fee. Motion carried 3-0.
8. Copier Lease Agreement with Gordon Flesch Company: Mr. Burns presented a copier lease
agreement with the Gordon Flesch Company that would replace four copiers used at the
Verona Senior Center, Public Works Facility, and Library. The new lease agreement is four
a 60-month term and includes the following machines: Canon iR C3325i (Senior Center),
Canon iR C5240A (Public Works), Sharp MX-3140N (Library-Staff), and Sharp MX-
2640N (Library-Public). The monthly cost for the lease would decrease from the current rate
of $2,426.36 per month to $1,228.65 per month. Motion by Linder, seconded by Doyle, to
approve the copier lease agreement with the Gordon Flesch Company. Motion carried 3-0.
9. Adjournment: Motion by McGilvray, seconded by Doyle, to adjourn the Finance
Committee Meeting at 6:52 p.m. Motion carried 3-0.
