City of Verona Finance Committee City Hall – 111 Lincoln Street Verona, WI 53593-1520 MINUTES FINANCE COMMITTEE July 10, 2017 The meeting was called to order by Mac McGilvray at 6:32 p.m. Roll Call: Alder William “Mac” McGilvray, Alder Jack Linder and Alder Elizabeth Doyle were present. Also present: City Administrator Jeff Mikorski and Finance Director Brian Lamers Discussion and Possible Action regarding approval of June 26, 2017 Finance Committee minutes: Motion by McGilvray, seconded by Linder, to approve the 06/26/2017 Finance Committee minutes with no amendments. Motion carried 3-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the payment of bills: Motion by McGilvray, seconded by Doyle, to approve the payment of bills totaling $1,876,385.18. Motion carried 3-0. Discussion and Possible Action re: Building Inspection vehicle usage. City Administrator requested the Finance Committee to allow the use of used vehicles that would be traded-in from other departments to be used for the building inspection department. City vehicles have not been provided in the past, with employees paid mileage for use of their own vehicle. Due to the fact that we have two new building inspectors, Mikorski would like to make sure contractors and property owners know they are City employees as they are driving around neighborhoods and/or entering a construction site. It is safer for employees by being identified as with a labeled vehicle. A motion by McGilvray, seconded by Doyle to utilize used vehicles for the Building Inspection Department on a trial bases to see if there is a cost savings and if the used vehicles will last until replaced. Motion carried 3-0. Discussion and Possible Action re: 5-year CIP schedule of Finance Committee meetings. A draft schedule of Finance Committee meetings to her presentations by Department Heads was provided to the Finance Committee. Finance Committee members helped to determine which meeting dates could work for the majority of members. An updated schedule will be provided to the Finance Committee and Council, and Department Heads. Adjournment: Motion by Doyle, seconded by Linder, to adjourn the Finance Committee Meeting at 6:58 p.m. Motion carried 3-0. Respectfully submitted, Jeff Mikorski, ICMA-CM City Administrator www.ci.verona.wi.us
