FINANCE COMMITTEE
NOVEMBER 9, 2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Verona Finance Committee held its meeting as a virtual
meeting. The Finance Committee did not meet at City Hall, 111 Lincoln Street. Members of
the Finance Committee and Staff joined the meeting by using Zoom Webinar. Members of the
public were able to join the meeting using Zoom Webinar via a computer, tablet, or
smartphone, or by calling into the meeting via phone.
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Chad Kemp at 6:01 p.m.
Roll Call: Chairperson Chad Kemp, Alder Kate Cronin and Alder Christine Posey were present.
Also present: City Administrator Adam Sayre and Finance Director Brian Lamers.
Discussion and Possible Action regarding approval of October 26, 2020 Finance Committee
minutes: Motion was made by Cronin, seconded by Posey to approve the October 26, 2020
Finance Committee minutes with no changes noted. Motion carried 3-0.
Discussion and Possible Action regarding Updates on the 2021 Budget: Lamers stated there is
nothing new on the City budget to report.
Discussion and Possible Action regarding approval of cleaning service contracts with Sundance
BioClean, Inc. for City Hall/Police and Senior Center: Sayre stated the City has been looking at
new cleaning contracts because of the poor services with the current company and hasn’t
improved. The current cleaning service has been with the City for 10 years. The Library is
currently uses Sundance and has been happy with the service. He stated although the City
Hall/Police are about $600 more a month and the Senior Center is about $450 more a month, we
feel there would be better service. The new service would start 1/1/2021 and the City could give
30 day notice if not happy with the service. We would try this for a year and see if we want to
go out for bids again next year. We received 2 bids with both about the same cost, but with the
Library already using them and happy with the services, staff recommends the change to
Sundance. Motion was made by Kemp, seconded by Posey to approve the cleaning service
contracts with Sundance BioClean, Inc. for the City Hall/Police and Senior Center. Motion
carried 3-0.
Discussion and Possible Action regarding the City Investment Report for October 2020: Lamers
stated there is nothing worth noting on the investment report.

about $53,000 and budgeted was $180,000. Also there will be a significant revenue decline in
the Recreation programs. There are still a couple positions still left open at the City.

Motion was made by Kemp, seconded by Cronin to approve the payment of bills totaling
$387,451.44. Motion carried 3-0.
