City of Verona Finance Committee City Hall – 111 Lincoln Street Verona, WI 53593-1520 MINUTES FINANCE COMMITTEE NOVEMBER 15, 2021 The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Chad Kemp at 6:30 p.m. Roll Call: Chairperson Chad Kemp, Alder Kate Cronin and Alder Christine Posey were present. Also present: Mayor Luke Diaz, City Administrator Adam Sayre, and Finance Director Brian Lamers. Discussion and Possible Action regarding approval of November 8, 2021 Finance Committee minutes: Motion was made by , seconded by to approve the November 8, 2021 Finance Committee minutes with no changes noted. Motion carried 3-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding Resolution R-21-048 Approving the 2021 City of Verona Budget: Discussion and Possible Action regarding Resolution R-21-049 Approving the Levying of Property Taxes for the City Purposes: Discussion and Possible Action regarding the City Investment Report-October 2021: Lamers stated nothing to report. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the Revenue and Expenditure Summary Report- October 2021: Lamers stated that one area still of concern is the interest revenue budget. Discussion and Possible Action regarding Delinquent Personal Property Taxes: Lamers stated he called Feldt Construction twice stating that we may work with them to waive interest and penalties if it gets paid now and there was no response to the messages again. Lamers stated he got a hold of Cooper Plumbing and stated he would ask the Committee if they would wave penalties and interest if it was paid right away and he did bring in a check for payment of the tax portion. Lamers stated he also called Goochi Poochi and left a message, she left a message this past Friday and Lamers stated he was not in, he left two messages today with the same thought of if the taxes are paid get approval to waive the interest and penalties. Lamers stated he called Nuage Salon II regarding the 2019 and 2020 taxes and got a hold of Nuage Salon. She stated that in the past it was two business, Nuage Salon and Nuage Salon II and shared a space. Nuage Salon took over the space and Nuage Salon II has not been in business for a couple years. Lamers stated that the $66.56 that is owed should probably be written off since there shouldn’t have been a tax bill to begin with. Motion was made by , seconded by to approve writing off Nuage Salon II taxes of $66.56. Motion carried 3-0. www.ci.verona.wi.us Discussion and Possible Action regarding the payment of bills: Lamers stated no bills to pay and are staying with the regular payment cycle and will get approved next meeting.
