City of Verona Finance Committee City Hall – 111 Lincoln Street Verona, WI 53593-1520 MINUTES FINANCE COMMITTEE JANUARY 10, 2022 The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Chad Kemp at 6:33 p.m. Roll Call: Chairperson Chad Kemp and Alder Kate Cronin were present. Alder Christine Posey was excused. Also present: City Administrator Adam Sayre and Finance Director Brian Lamers. Discussion and Possible Action regarding approval of December 13, 2021 Finance Committee minutes: Motion was made by Kemp, seconded by Cronin to approve the December 13, 2021 Finance Committee minutes with no changes noted. Motion carried 2-0. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the Charges for use of Credit Cards for Payments: Cronin asked about the charges to use a credit card and the cost. Lamers explained it is through a third-party vendor. Lamers explained very few people use that option and most that utilize the third-party do an electronic check for $2.90 typically. Lamers explained that we utilize Official payments for taxes and he had checked with Invoice Cloud, which is the third-party vendor for utility payments and it was a little more. Currently there are third-party charges for utility payments, recreation fees and building inspection fees through another third-party company. If the City would have to pay for those cost if it was free to the user. The cost would be passed on to the tax-payers through levy on some of the charges and through utilities cost to the users. Discussion and Possible Action regarding the payment of bills: Motion was made by Kemp, seconded by Cronin to approve the payment of bills totaling $15,956,349.43. Motion carried 2-0. Adjournment: Motion was made by Cronin, seconded by Kemp to adjourn the Finance Committee Meeting at 6:40 p.m. Motion carried 2-0.
