CITY OF VERONA MINUTES MUNICIPAL BOARD OF CANVASSERS APRIL 5, 2013 1. The meeting was called to order by City Clerk, Kami Lynch at 4:00 p.m. 2. Roll call: Bill Burns, Karl Curtis, and Kami Lynch. 3. Public Comments: None 4. Approval of Minutes from the February 22, 2013 Meeting Motion by Burns, seconded by Curtis to approve the minutes with no adjustments. Motion Carried 3/0. 5. Processing and Counting of Absentee Ballots received after Election Day: There was one late absentee ballot received from Wards 1-5; the ballot certificate envelope contained no errors and the ballot was counted. Wards 6-9 had two late absentee ballots received. One was counted and was rejected due to voter error on the certificate envelope. Votes for each reporting unit were tallied and totaled separately. 6. Certification of Results for Municipal Offices: Late absentee ballots from Wards 1-5 added one vote to District 1 Alder candidate, Elizabeth Doyle. Elizabeth Doyle received the most votes in District 1 and was declared the office winner. No additional votes were received in District 2 and Dale E.P. Yurs received the most votes in District 2 on Election Day and was declared the District 2 Alder office winner. Late absentee ballots from Wards 6-9 added one vote to District 4 Alder candidate, Heather Reekie. Heather Reekie received the most votes in District 4 and was declared the office winner. No additional votes were received in District 3 and Luke Diaz received the most votes in District 3 on Election Day and was declared the District 3 Alder office winner. The vote totals are as follows: Alderperson District 1: Elizabeth Doyle 276 Clark Solowicz 246 Alderperson District 2: Dale E.P. Yurs 295 Steve Ritt 249 Alderperson District 3: Luke Diaz 284 Richard Streich 165 Alderperson District 4: Heather Reekie 324 Evan Touchett 247 7. Summary Statement of Results: Wards 1-5 had votes from one ballot added to Election Day totals. Wards 6-9 had one ballot that added additional votes to the Election Day totals. 8. Adjournment: Motion by Burns, seconded by Curtis, to adjourn the meeting at 4:16 p.m. Motion carried 3/0. Kami Lynch, City Clerk
