City of Verona Personnel Committee City Hall – 111 Lincoln Street Verona, WI 53593-1520 MINUTES PERSONNEL COMMITTEE MAY 22, 2017 VERONA CITY HALL 1. The meeting was called to order by Elizabeth Doyle at 5:48 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Elizabeth Doyle, Heather Reekie and Sarah Gaskell were present. Also present were Jon Hochkammer, Mayor; and Jeff Mikorski, City Administrator 3. Approval of minutes from May 8, 2017. Motion by Reekie, seconded by Gaskell. Motion carried 3-0. 4. Discussion and Possible Action regarding Amendments to Administrative Policy #4 – Personnel Policy. As presented, Section 1.4 was amended to include “gender identity” and “gender expression” as additional classes that the City shall not discriminate against regarding employees or applicants. As presented Section 2.1 was amended to include “gender identity” and “gender expression” as additional classes that the City shall not discriminate against regarding employees or applicants. A motion by Doyle to recommend to City Council the language to include into administrative policy #4, seconded by Reekie. Motion carried 3-0. 5. Discussion and Possible Action regarding Amendments to Administrative Policy #24 – Harassment and Retaliation Policy. As presented, Section 3.2b was amended to include “gender identity” and “gender expression” as additional classes that employees shall not make offensive or derogatory comments either directly or indirectly. A motion by Doyle to recommend to City Council the language to include into administrative policy #24, seconded by Reekie. Motion carried 3-0. 7.
