CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE JANUARY 9, 2012 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Scott Manley at 5:31 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Members Present: Jeremy Charles, Scott Manley, and Evan Touchett. Others Present: Bill Burns, City Administrator; Bernie Coughlin, Police Chief; and Kami Lynch, City Clerk. 3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Touchett, seconded Charles by to approve the minutes of the December 12, 2011 meeting. Motion carried 3/0. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Class B Retail Fermented Malt Beverage and Class B Retail Liquor License for Madison Oil, LLC located at 103 S Main St (Lakhvir Kaur, Agent). Motion by Touchett, seconded by Charles to recommend that the Council approve the license. Motion carried 3/0. 5. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Cigarette/Tobacco License for Madison Oil, LLC located at 103 S Main St (Lakhvir Kaur, Agent). Motion by Charles, seconded by Touchett to recommend approval of the license to the Council. Motion carried 3/0. 6. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Special Events Permit from Brad Zaugg regarding Hometown Days, June 7-10, 2012. Motion by Charles, seconded by Touchett to recommend that the Common Council approve the Special Events Permit from Brad Zaugg. Motion carried 3/0. 7. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Special Events Permit from Douglas Sommerfeld regarding Hometown Days, June 7-10, 2012. The committee expressed concerns regarding the application due to the fact that the members of the group applying for the special event had run the event in the past but recently made the decision to dissolve their former group heading the event.
