CITY OF VERONA PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE COMMITTEE FEBRUARY 25, 2013 VERONA CITY HALL MINUTES 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Scott Manley at 5:33 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Members Present: Jeremy Charles, Scott Manley, and Evan Touchett. Others Present: Bernie Coughlin, Police Chief; Bill Burns, City Administrator; and Kami Lynch, City Clerk. 3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Charles to approve the minutes of the December 10, 2012 meeting. Motion carried 3/0. 4. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Special Event Permit for Hometown Days, June 10th – June 13th 2014 from Brad Zaugg, BRAVA Enterprises, LLC. Mr. Zaugg filed an amended application as the dates noted are incorrect. The new Special Events Permit application is for the dates June 12th – June 15th 2014 for Hometown Days. Motion by Manley, seconded by Touchett to recommend approval of the Special Events Permit for Hometown Days 2014 June 12th – June 15th to the Common Council. Motion carried 3/0. 5. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Parade/Run/Walk Permit for the Hometown Days parade to be held on June 9, 2013 from Brad Zaugg, BRAVA Enterprises, LLC. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Charles to approve the Parade/Run/Walk Permit for the 2013 Hometown Days parade to be consistent with the parade from previous years. Motion carried 3/0. 6. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a charity bike rid event: ‘Carbone’s Peddling for Pancreas’ to benefit pancreas cancer research on Saturday, May 11, 2013 from James Listug, Event Director, UW Carbone Cancer Center. Motion by Charles, seconded by Touchett to approve the charity bike event on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Motion carried 3/0. 7. Discussion and possible action regarding amending Chapters 7, 9, and 14 of Title 7 of the City of Verona Code of Ordinances. The committee discussed amending the ordinances to better accommodate the procedures for special events and street use permits. No action was taken on the item. 8. Adjournment.
