MINUTES
1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Manley at 6:00
p.m.
2. Roll Call: Members Present: Michael Bare, Scott Manley and Dale Yurs.
Others Present: Bernie Coughlin, Police Chief; Liz Doyle, Alderperson District 1;
and Kami Scofield, City Clerk.
3. Approval of Minutes. Motion by Bare, seconded by Yurs to approve the
minutes from the March 10, 2014 meeting. Motion carried 3/0.
4. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Special Event
Permit for Hometown Days, June 12‐15, 2014 from the Verona Area Chamber
of Commerce. Karl Curtis from the Chamber was present and indicated that
the event had no changes from last year. This includes the provision of
children 12 & under allowed in the beer tent until 8 p.m. Motion by Yurs,
seconded by Bare to recommend that that the Common Council approve the
Special Event Permit for Hometown Days contingent upon the Chief
completing the records check of the applicant. Motion carried 3/0.
5. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Temporary
Class B Beer License for Hometown Days June 12‐15, 2014 from the
Fitchburg‐Verona Rotary Club. Motion by Bare, seconded by Yurs to
recommend that the Common Council approve the Temporary Class B license
with the contingency that Chief completes the records check on the
applicants. Motion carried 3/0.
6. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Liquor License
Premise Amendment to accommodate a ‘Rib Cook‐off’ event at the 5th
Quarter on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from James Latsch, Agent. The applicant
was not prepared to move forward with the event. No action was taken on
the item.
7. Discussion and possible action regarding an application for a Special Event
Permit for Carbone’s Peddling for Pancreas Bike Ride on Saturday, May 10,
2014 from James Listug, UW Carbone Cancer Center. Motion by Yurs,
seconded by Bare to approve the Special Event Permit for the Bike Ride
contingent upon the Chief completing the records check on the applicant.
Motion carried 3/0.
8. Adjournment. Motion by Bare, seconded by Yurs to adjourn the meeting at
6:25 p.m. Motion carried 3/0.
