MINUTES
1. Call to order: Sarah Gaskell called the meeting to order at 6:19 p.m.
2. Roll Call: Sarah Gaskell, Katie Kohl and Evan Touchett were present. Also present:
Sergeant Jesse Christensen, Le Jordan, Ryan Richards, Bruce Meier and City Clerk Ellen
Clark.
3. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Touchett, seconded by Kohl, to approve the minutes
from the April 23, 2018 Public Safety and Welfare Committee meeting, correcting Katie
Kohl’s arrival time to 6:32 p.m. Motion carried 3-0.
4. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Special Event Permit application from Le Jordan,
Verona Area Chamber of Commerce, for the Music on Main events on Friday evenings,
June 29, July 13, July 27, and August 10, 2018 at Hometown Junction Park, 120 W.
Verona Avenue, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. This application is for free concerts in the park on
Friday nights throughout the summer. This is the second season for the concerts. The
Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission has approved consumption of alcohol within
the park during the events, however no alcohol sales will be involved. Some food trucks
may be available, as well. Motion by Touchett, seconded by Kohl, to approve a Special
Event Permit from Le Jordan, Verona, Area Chamber of Commerce, for the Music on
Main events on Friday evenings, June 29, July 13, July 27, and August 10, 2018 at
Hometown Junction Park, 120 W. Verona Avenue, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., contingent upon
all permits for the sale of food being obtained from the health department. Motion
carried 3-0.
5. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Special Event Permit application from Ryan
Richards, Race Day Events, for the Wisconsin Triterium Triathlon on Saturday,
June 23, 2018 from 6 a.m.- 2 p.m. This event has been held at Fireman’s Park for several
years. The swimming portion is at Fireman’s Park, with the primary route for the bike
ride being in the county. The route has changed this year. There will be full closure of
Bruce Street between Paoli Street and Investment Court. Three officers will be on site to
assist with traffic control. Fireman’s Park will be open to the public at Noon. Motion by
Kohl, seconded by Touchett, to approve a Special Event Permit from Ryan Richards, Race
Day Events, for the Wisconsin Triterium Triathlon on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 6
a.m. - 2 p.m., contingent upon a background check being completed by the Verona
Police Department. Motion carried 3-0.
6. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Special Event Permit application for a fundraiser
and outdoor barbeque dinner on Friday, June 22, 2018 from Bruce Meier, Dok’s Klassik
Tavern, 410 W. Verona Avenue. This event is a fundraiser for the U.W. Children’s
Hospital. The event begins with a golf outing at Hawk’s Landing. A dinner tent will be
placed on the lawn of the Klassik Tavern premises. An officer will be on site from 5
p.m. - 10 p.m. A deejay will be positioned on the northwest side of the tent. Motion by
Kohl, seconded by Touchett, to recommend to the Common Council to approve a
Special Event Permit for a fundraiser and outdoor barbeque dinner on Friday, June 22,
2018 from Bruce Meier, Dok’s Klassik Tavern, 410 W. Verona Avenue, from 5 p.m. - 10
p.m. Motion carried 3-0.
7. Discussion and Possible Action Re: A Temporary Premises Description Amendment for
Class “B” Beer and “Class B” Intoxicating Liquor Licenses for Dok’s Klassik Tavern,
410 W. Verona Avenue, on Friday, June 22, 2018, to include the parking lot and dinner
tent on the west lawn. Motion by Kohl, seconded by Touchett, to recommend to the
Common Council to approve a Temporary Premises Description Amendment for Class
“B” Beer and “Class B” Intoxicating Liquor Licenses for Dok’s Klassik Tavern, 410 W.
Verona Avenue, on Friday, June 22, 2018, from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m., to include the parking
lot and dinner tent on the west lawn. Motion carried 3-0.
8. Adjournment: Motion by Touchett, seconded by Gaskell, to adjourn at 6:44 p.m. Motion
carried 3-0.
