Public Works, Sewer and Water

CITY OF VERONA MINUTES PUBLIC WORKS/SEWER & WATER COMMITTEE MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2013 1. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson William McGilvray at 5:35 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Present: William McGilvray, Luke Diaz, Heather Reekie. Also present: Bob Gundlach, City Engineer, Ron Rieder, Public Works Director. 3. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Reekie, to approve the minutes of the September 9, 2013 meeting of the Public Works/Sewer and Water Committee. Motion carried with correction 3-0. 4. MOVED by McGilvray, seconded by Diaz, to approve Change Order #3 for Project Well 5 Pump Station and Reservoir in the amount of $53,808.00. Motion carried 3-0. 5. Discussion regarding natural landscaping on City maintained land: Ron Rieder suggested that he set up a meeting with Jackie Hager, horticulturist at Epic, to get her input and bring information back to the Committee in October. 6. Discussion regarding amending the existing Well Head Protection Ordinance: The Committee agreed to include this item on a December 2013 meeting agenda. 7. Discussion regarding domestic partnership benefit requirements for City contracts: Chairman McGilvray suggested that this item also be included on a future Finance Committee agenda. Ron Rieder explained that he would work with the City Attorney and Administrator and update the Committee at the next scheduled Public Works Committee meeting. 8. Discussion regarding the 2014 Public Works, Refuse and Recycling and Utilities Budgets: Ron Rieder presented the preliminary budgets to the Committee. No action was taken. 9. Mr. McGilvray excused himself from the meeting at 6:35 p.m. 10. MOVED by Diaz, seconded by Reekie, to adjourn. Motion carried 2-0. Time: 6:40 p.m. William McGilvray Chairperson
