September 11, 2018 Meeting Minutes
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:18PM.
Roll Call: Present: Kate Cronin, Mary Hanson, Katie Kohl, Louis Eifert Excused: Charlotte Jerney
Approval of Minutes of August 2018 Meeting: Motion by Kate, seconded by Katie, approved, 2-0.
Director’s Report for August 2018
Julie Larson has been selected as the new Case Manager.
Damascus Road Church has given notice that they will terminate their lease effective Oct. 10.
This represents a loss of $15,600 annually.
All City Departments have been asked to trim our 2019 budget requests.
The Director and Program Manager will attend the Sept. 13-14 WASC Fall Conference. Our Case
Manager had been offered the same opportunity, and had accepted, but later declined.
We have updated our New Hire Orientation process to ensure that all new hires get sufficient
support and training.
Staff have been provided access to all City of Verona Policies in both online and hard copy forms.

Special August Programs: Verona’s Police K-9 demonstration with Officer Matt Kile; Birthday
Anniversary party with music by Larry Bird; 90+ Birthday Celebration with “Songs of Life” music by Rich
Baumann; Medicare Fraud Presentation, Stepping On Falls Prevention Class; Virtual Reality Tours; Ice
Cream Socials; MATC Ukelele Lessons; Great Courses: “Optimizing Brain Fitness” and “How Color Affects
You”; Coping with Dementia Series.
Ongoing Programs: Coffee hour, fitness classes, yoga & tai chi, support groups, cards & games, art
classes, knitting, & stamping classes, stamping & card making, crafts, computer/tech assistance, book
club, game night, films, veterans group, and wellness nurse services.
Pending Special Events:
September 14: National Senior Center Month celebration with food, games, photo booth & film.
October 4: Annual Vendor Fair and Flu Shot Clinic
Financial Update
As of September 7, 2018, we are 68% through the year, and have spent 56% of our budget.
Adjournment: Motion by Kate, seconded by Katie, approved 2-0, adjourned 7:45 PM.
