Approval of the Minutes Mr. Cheselka made a motion to approve the meeting minutes from February 2017 Ms. Hyde seconded the motion Motion: Cheselka Second: Hyde Approved: 5-0 130 Park Street SE - Virginia Heart Request for approval of window signage for Virginia Heart located at 130 Park St. SE, (Docket No. BAR-14-18), in the C-2 General Commercial zoning district; filed by Bob Biroonak, sign agent.. Mr. Bob Biroonak was present to represent the sign application. Ms. Hanley asked if there were signs to the left of the doorway, Mr. Birroonak stated there were none. Ms. Hanley and Mr. Baldwin both stated their concern about the visibility of the white letters. They both felt the white letters may stand out more if they were outlined in black. Mr. Biroonak stated the colors presented were the colors for Virginia Heart. Mr. Layer asked if Virginia Heart wants to use the colors presented. Mr. Biroonak stated the colors presented are approved by the client. Mr. Layer then asked if there was an aesthetic objection to the sign, which there were none. Mr. Layer then asked for a motion. Mr. Cheselka made a motion that the request for approval of window signage for Virginia Heart located at 130 Park St. SE, (Docket No. BAR-14-18), be approved as submitted. Motion: Cheselka Second: Hanley Approved: 5-0 Town of Vienna Page 1 Printed on 4/26/2018 Board of Architectural Review Meeting Minutes March 15, 2018 120 Cherry St SE - Community Center Plantings Request for approval of exterior modifications for a landscape improvement of the Vienna Community Center located at 120 Cherry St. SE, (Docket No. BAR-17-18), in the PR, Park and Recreation zoning district; filed by Leslie Herman, Director, Town of Vienna Department of Parks and Recreation. Ms. Leslie Herman was present to represent the landscape improvement application. Ms. Hanley asked about the schematic that had been submitted and if the street names were transposed to ensure each Boy Scout received credit for the accurate project. There was continued discussion regarding the street locations on the schematic. Mr. Gary Lawrence, Town Arborist for the Town of Vienna, spoke on the application. Mr. Lawrence spoke to clear up the street location mistake as well as stating that Luke Driscoll would be working phase 1 and Tyler King would be working on phase 2. Mr. Cheselka asked about the shape and size difference of the Serbian and Norway spruce trees. Ms. Hanley asked if there would still be an access way to come from the parking lot onto the softball fields. Ms. Herman stated they would look at it and try to keep the opening so the kids can pass. Mr. Baldwin asked about the size of the trees at maturity. Mr. Lawrence stated they would top out at 50 foot – 60 foot height, but that it would be years down the road. Mr. Baldwin asked for their size when planted. Mr. Lawrence stated the would be 1 ½ inch to 2 inch caliper which would be about a 6 foot evergreen. Ms. Layer asked for a motion. Ms. Hyde made a motion that request for approval of window signage for Body and Brain of Vienna located at 123 Church St NW, (Docket No. BAR-10-18), be approved as submitted. Motion: Hyde Second: Baldwin Approved: 5-0 Meeting Adjournment New Business: Mr. D’Orazio mentioned that Virginia Tire and Auto wanted to have a work session and it would be set for March 23rd at 8 am The board also confirmed the work session for VPAC on April 5th. Ms. Hanley made a motion to close the meeting. Mr. Cheselka seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned at 8:19 PM.
