Roll Call Members present: Brenda Burns; Najee Davis; Tim Fricker; Joann Hazard; Peggy James; Mark Lander; Tracy McCarty; Bob Marsh; Jen Morrow Absent: Preeti Penati Staff Present: Natalie Guilmeus, Director, Economic Development; Ashley Curtis, Marketing and Business Engagement Specialist, Economic Development 2. New Business A. Business Licenses in April 2024 Attachments: April 2024 Business Licenses Chairman Morrow thanked all members who attended the pre meeting discussion. She noted that the list of five new businesses for the month of April includes three in the Cedar Park Shopping Center. 3. VBA Updates Chairman Morrow called on Peggy James to provide information from the Vienna Business Association. • VBA continues to work on the Octoberfest event scheduled for October 5, 2024; • Monthly mixer will be held on May 21, 2024; • Juneteenth event “Empowering Women” panel scheduled for July 10, 2024, 5:45 PM Community Center; • First Friday breakfast 8:00 – 9:00 AM. Additional comments included the following: • Consider some type of joint TBLC/VBA event; • Encourage greater TBLC presence at VBA events; • Consider topic specific small event hosted by TBLC member; Focus on suggested solutions to problems that can be brought forth to Council; Must consider financial capabilities of Town when proposing solutions. 4. Regular Business A. Thrive Awards 2024 Debrief Chairman Morrow called on Tracy Curtis, Marketing and Business Engagement Specialist, Economic Development to recap the event. Noting the low attendance, the committee discussed ideas for addressing this issue. With an overall purpose to help businesses feel connected to Vienna, a solution should include personal visits to each business scheduled for recognition. Other ideas included sending a Save-the-date card to those scheduled for recognition; publishing images from the Town of Vienna Page 1 Printed on 3/3/2025 Town Business Liaison Committee Meeting Minutes May 9, 2024 event; developing a full year marketing strategy. Key to reinforcing the validity of the recognition is to clear up the problem of long term businesses that change ownership listed as new business. B. TBLC Bylaws Discussion Attachments: TBLC Bylaws Proposed Edits 5. Economic Development Department Updates A. Economic Development Department Updates Chairman Morrow called on Natalie Guilmeus, Director, Economic Development. Meetings and activities of note included the following: • May 13, 2024 Town Council Work Session - Prioritizing parking study results to determine which areas to address first; • May 10, 2024 Economic Development Week Activity - Shopping Center Tour and Property Manager visit; • May 20, 2024 Town Council Meeting Adoption of Real Estate Tax, Water and Sewer Rate and Operating Budget; • Economic Development is currently working with Parks and Recreation to create a Pop-Up Garden next to the Town Green – Vienna in Bloom. 6.
