Call to Order The Vienna Transportation Safety Commission (TSC) met in regular session on April 26, 2022 in the Vienna Town Hall Council Chamber, 127 Center Street S, Vienna, Virginia. Chairman Beth Eachus opened the meeting at 8:06 pm with the following Commissioners present Vice Chairman Angela Sorrell, Loginn Kapitan, Charlie Strunk, Donna Smith, SallyJean Penna, Joe Lowther, Peter Hartogs. Commissioner Leonard Ignatowski was absent. Also present were Andrew Jinks, Department of Public Works (DPW), Sergeant Pete Elias, Vienna Police Department (VPD), and Jennifer Sigler, TSC Clerk. 2. Approval of the March 29, 2022 Meeting Minutes Commissioner Kapitan made a motion to approve the April 26, 2022 meeting minutes. Commissioner Penna seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously, 8 – 0. 3. DPW Report Old Courthouse Road Sidewalk - The Contractor has now begun construction activities, including installing E&S controls and clearing. The project should be completed by January of 2023. Answering Questions from Last the TSC Meeting (April 26th) - Is there anything that can be done regarding pedestrian crossing in the wrong locations at the roundabout at Park St and Locust St. Answer: DPW will evaluate adding “USE CROSSWALK” and/or “CROSS ONLY AT CROSSWALKS” signage at the roundabout. 4. Receipt of Petitions and Communications from the Public NONE These are non-action items for initial presentation only; three-minute time limit enforced 5. BAC Report Vice Chairman Strunk: Topics discussed included Tour d’Hunter Mill bike event which had 100 participants, and Bike to Work Day which had 265 registered cyclists. 6. PAC Report The PAC looked at Fairfax County’s permitting system to see if more information regarding new sidewalk installation by builders can be found there. It was suggested builders should state they are installing new sidewalk in their description of project at the County and Town levels during the permit process. Reports of the Commissioners The Commissioners turned a list of potholes and sidewalk repairs to Jennifer, who will create work orders to have them resolved. 8. Report of the Chairman NONE 9.
