Approval of the Minutes: VPAC23-275 Approve minutes from the February 21 meeting •February 21, 2023 minutes passed as written VPAC23-276 VPAF Treasurer’s reports •Current bank balance of $21,777.61 •The VA Commission for the Arts application for FY24 has been completed and is awaiting the sign-off of the Town Manager before final submission on or before April 1st. •An online account has been set up with Arts Fairfax and the application for their Operations Award grant has been started. This application will be completed and submitted before their deadline of April 24th.. VPAC23-265 Chairman’s report •Council accepted the VPAC Master Plan •No update on Musical sculpture garden project- four Council members are needed to meet at the site with David Reynolds from Vienna Jammers to assess the noise level from potential instruments (pricing has risen by 35%). Mr. Cheselka will contact Harmony Park to see if a deposit can be put down to lock in a price. •New Day mural project painting days need to be scheduled. Mr. Cheselka is waiting hear back from Leslie Herman on availble dates that the Community Center is less busy. Possibility of last two weeks in August during maintenance weeks. 3. Regular Business VPAC23-266 Report on New Day mural project and present renderings The project artist Sherri McFarland painted a rendering. Deborah Kennedy presented the final rendering during the meeting. Ms. Cousins made a motion to approve the painting as presented. The motion was seconded by Ms. Biles. The motion passed unanimously. Ms. Biles will submit the BAR application by March 30. On April 20 Ms. Biles and Ms. Kennedy will present the project to the BAR. On 5/1 the project will be presented to Council. The wall will be primed in white with two coats. VPAC23-267 Update on Cherry Street wall project Ideas presented: mosaic tiles and metal artwork design. VPAC23-268 Town Hall pipes mural update Ms. Cousins reported the artist will come up with a more distinctive design to include native plants and birds. VPAC23-269 Social media update Ms. Boms reported there is good engagment on social media, continuing to promote leaders of the group and cross posting. Ms. Boms will send website launch to Karen Thayer, PIO Director. VPAC23-270 Grant writer final report More to come in mid-May. Mr. Comerford will assist with the contract. New Business VPAC23-272 Entertainment ideas for Viva Vienna booth Ms. Boms presented ideas for the activities for VIVA! booth space: 1.) large painted background with spring theme and stickers 2.) printed stickers of sunrises with website to be colored. Ms. Cousins made a motion to allocate up to and not to exceed $1,000 in supplies to support the VIVA craft projects. Ms. Barrett seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Ms. Cousins will work on ordering the pull-up portable VPAC banner. VPAC brochure needs to be updated for future events. VPAC will not be present for the Walk on the Hill event. VPAC23-273 New ideas for public art and locations for 2024 2024 project ideas- bring to upcoming meetings Annex- encourage people you know to submit the questionnaire Ms. Kennedy proposed a work session in May/June to develop long-term Commission member assignments. 4. Meeting Adjournment Adjournment at 8:52 p.m. Ms. Cousins made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Ms. Biles seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
