The Council asks that you keep your comments brief and positive. Creative criticism, presented with appropriate courtesy, is welcome. Each speaker will be allowed three minutes, and a timer will notify you when your time is expired. Please begin your comments by stating and spelling your name and providing your city of residence. CERTIFICATION OF ELECTION RESULTS 1. Adoption of Resolutions 2024-64 and 2024-65 declaring the 24-0317 results of the General Municipal Election, held November 5, 2024, for the Visalia City Council, Districts 1 and 2 and accepting the certified official results of the passage of Measure O. Chief Deputy City Clerk Jennifer Gomez presented the staff report for the Council's consideration. A motion was made by Vice Mayor Brett Taylor, seconded by Council Member Emmanuel Hernandez Soto, to approve as recommended. Administer Oath of Office to newly elected Council Members Liz 24-0484 Wynn and Brett Taylor. Chief Deputy City Clerk Jennifer Gomez administered the Oath of Office to newly elected Council Member Liz Wynn and Council Member Brett Taylor. COMMENTS BY COUNCIL MEMBERS Council Member Wynn introduced and thanked her family for their support. Council Member Taylor thanked the community and thanked his wife and family for their support. REORGANIZATION OF COUNCIL 1. Selection of Mayor and Vice Mayor. 24-0458 Mayor Poochigian thanked the Council and staff. Council Member Wynn nominated Brett Taylor as Mayor. A motion was made by Council Member Liz Wynn, seconded by Council Member Emmanuel Hernandez Soto, to approve. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Brian Poochigian, Brett Taylor, Steve Nelsen, Emmanuel Hernandez Soto, Liz Wynn Council Member Poochigian nominated Liz Wynn as Vice Mayor. A motion was made by Mayor Brian Poochigian, seconded by Council Member Emmanuel Hernandez Soto, to approve. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: Brian Poochigian, Brett Taylor, Steve Nelsen, Emmanuel Hernandez Soto, Liz Wynn INFORMATIONAL ITEM (No action required at this time) 1. Receive the list of committees and boards that have Visalia City 24-0401 Council representation directly appointed by the Council. Appointments will be considered at an upcoming meeting. Interest in serving on a specific board will be conveyed directly to the Mayor prior to the next meeting. No action required.
