Call Meeting to Order - Record Attendance
1. Committee members: Jessica Babcock, Chair, Carla Hendon, Elaina
Huizenga, Julie Wilson, Greg Gaastra, Jena Wilmers, Andrew Rienstra-
Ehlers and Mary Wieber
Discussion Items
1. Review and approve minutes fro February 3, 2020 Meeting.
2. Review List of Ideas:
What can be implemented right away with little resources?
What are some bigger projects to focus on implementing that need
extra reources?
3. Create a timeline of events proposal, including needed resources and
submit to Commissioner Huizenga and Mayor Carey for review.
4. New Business Packets: Discuss plans and continuing this project or
improving it.
The new Business packets need to be delivered to over 40
businesses. I do not have any more succulents, but I do have
coffee cups, I think additional discussion should going how we
deliver these, like maybe making an appointment to speak with the
owner….

Committee members: Jessica Babcock - Chair, Elaina Huizenga -

Discussion Items
Minutes from previous meeting in October 2019.
Motion by Jena Wilmers, seconded by Carla Hendon to approve the October
2019 meeting minutes.
In 2019 the committee met and can up with two projects to focus on. 1) New
Business Packets, 2) New Resident "Welcome Newsletters". The committee
distributed the New Business packets to businesses that moved into Walker in
2019. Both of these packets were a success!
Mission & Vision - Mayor Carey explained the Mission and Vision he has for this
committee, which in part is helping to connect the City with the Community.
The committee members were each given the City of Walker Calendar of Events
Schedule.
The committee would also like to recruit someone from the 1st Ward to be on
this committee.
Idea Time -The committee did some brainstorming to come up with ideas for
businesses, residents and other....
The list created were as follows:

City Passport of Brewery's or Restaurants
Pop Up Farmers Market

Block Party Liasions - Ambassadors - Have them attend CEC meetings and
report back to neighborhoods with current information
Make a list of active Block Parties and help support these events
Promote yearly garage sales- possibly in newsletters
With new city website - have a red banner scroll at bottom stating new
businesses that are coming to Walker, Example Coming June 2020- ALDI's
Continue to deliver "New Business Packets" to new businesses
