Winterfest Adjournment Page 1 of 5 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES COMMISSION CONFERENCE ROOM MONDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2022 5:30 PM Call Meeting to Order - Record Attendance Committee members: Carla Hendon, Stephanie Kolakowski, Mary Kuk Wieber, Jena Wilmers, Nick Erickson, Gen McKeiver, Erin Gregones, Elaina Huizenga- Chase, Leigh Ann Gray Discussion Items Approval of Previous Minutes Call Meeting to Order – Record Attendance Members Present: Stephanie Kolakowski; Nicole DiDonato; Nicholas Erickson; Erin Gregones; Jena Wilmers (Teams); Leigh Ann Gray; Elaina Huizenga Discussion Items Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes a.) Did not have enough members present to vote or make motions. 1. Overview of Walker boundaries and school districts included within City limits. a.) Comstock Park, Grandville, Kenowa Hills 2. Light discussion on what members would like to see focused on throughout the year. a.) Leigh Ann would like a focus on mental health and more inclusion for single/non-child persons. b.) National Night Out discussed Community Engagement Committee Minutes 10-10-22 Page 1 2 of 2 5 · Engaged communities discussed including Imperial Forest, Lincoln Lawns, Cambridge Grove. 3. Discussion regarding future direction of CEC. a.) Stephanie outlined the Engagement Plan · Discussion regarding which sector members would be most satisfied focusing on; · How to reach tangible results via surveys; · Plan to highlight community events as opposed to creating additional events; · Welcoming new families/individuals/businesses; b.) Request for each member to complete their individual strategic plan. · Follow for completion by 11/10/22. 4. Other discussions of note a.) Nick will be liaison to Chamber of Commerce. b.) Women’s month is March: Elaina suggested business license check women owned business. c.) Diversity within the community, potential to focus on different heritages. d.) 7-8 new businesses move into the City each year.
