Memorandum
TO: City of Walker Zoning Ordinance Subcommittee
FROM: Christopher Khorey, AICP
SUBJECT: Parking
DATE: October 28, 2022
The Zoning Work Group is proposing new policies regarding parking, including a completely new table of parking
requirements that uses the exact same list of uses that will appear in the permitted uses section.
The new policies are below:
• Instead of shared parking lots being required to provide the combined number of spaces required for all
uses sharing the parking lot, they would only be required to have 75% of the total required spaces for all
uses.
• Residential or agricultural lots greater than one acre in size, and with a front setback of 65 feet or more
would not be required to pave their driveways. (This is actually the current working interpretation of the
Ordinance, but it would be worded to be more clear and explicit).
• Parking lots adjacent to residential must have a fence between them and the residential lot (this is not a
change), but the fence no longer has to be chain link.
Proposed New Parking Chart:
Bolded requirements indicate revisions from the existing ordinance. UFA means “usable floor area.”
