FINANCE COMMITTEE Minutes of the Mee�ng Monday – June 2, 2025 1. Chairman LaFauci called the mee�ng to order at 8:12pm in the City Council Chamber. 2. Chairman LaFauci requested that a roll call be taken to record the atendance for the mee�ng. The Clerk called the roll – Commitee members LeBlanc, McMenimen, Vidal, and LaFauci were present in- person. VP LaCava was absent. 3. Councillor LeBlanc moved to approve the minutes of the mee�ng held on May 19, 2025. The mo�on was adopted on a voice vote and the minutes of the mee�ng on May 19, 2025 were approved. 4. Chairman LaFauci asked if anyone in the audience was recording the mee�ng. Ar�e Kronenfeld from the Waltham Times stated she was recording the mee�ng. 5. A mo�on by Councillor McMenimen to hear from all off-commitee members was adopted by a voice vote. 6. A request was received from the Mayor to approve the appropria�on in the amount of $181,500 to relocate the Waltham School Facili�es Department from the current loca�on at 258 Trapelo Road (former Lawrence School) to the old CTE spaces and auto shop at 617 Lexington Street (former Waltham High School). FROM: Unreserved Fund Balance #001-000-3590-3590 $181,500 TO: School – Facili�es Reloca�on #001-300-5800-6235 $181,500 Upon ques�ons from Councillors LeBlanc, Vidal, and LaFauci, the Mayor explained that the School Facili�es Department would be separate from the other programs at 617 Lexington Street. The Mayor plans to convert the 258 Trapelo Road building to senior housing. A mo�on by Councillor LeBlanc to approve the appropria�on was adopted on a voice vote. 7. A request was received from the Mayor to approve the appropria�on in the amount of $812,688 to fund the department requests for minor capital items for FY2025. Funding Sources: Unreserved Fund Balance $714,026 Sale of Recycling Bins 38,000 Water Retained Earnings 42,400 Rink Retained Earnings 18,262 TOTAL $812,688 Upon ques�ons from Councillor McMenimen, the Mayor and Assistant City Auditor Laura Doane explained that the items being funded were included in the respec�ve department’s capital budget request or they were new requests in FY2025. There were also projects listed on the worksheet that were requested in FY2024/2025 and were already funded by the Mayor. A mo�on by Councillor McMenimen to approve the appropria�on was adopted on a voice vote. 8. A request was received from the Mayor to approve the acceptance of the Joseph & Harriet Kingsbury Temperance Scholarship Trust. Upon ques�ons from the Finance Commitee members, the Mayor stated that changes were made to the trust and the School Commitee had approved it. A mo�on by Councillor McMenimen to approve the acceptance of the trust was adopted on a voice vote. 9. Councillor LaFauci reminded the commitee about the second day of department budget hearings being held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 and the special mee�ng for the cu�ng session being held on Monday, June 9, 2025. 10. A mo�on by Councillor McMenimen to adjourn was adopted on a voice vote and Chairman LaFauci declared the mee�ng adjourned at 8:46pm. Laura M. Doane – Clerk pro tem to the Finance Commitee
