Licenses & Franchises Committee Meeting Minutes June 23, 2025 The Chair called the meeting to order at 11:29 p.m. Present: Councillors Dunn, Hanley, Katz, Logan, and Vidal Absent: None. Vivian from the Waltham Times was recording the meeting. First agenda item: Grant of location for Eversource on Main St for cathodic protection Councillor Logan moved approval with the condition that the City Clerk’s office receive the sign- off from the Engineering Dept. before approving the license. The motion was approved by a voice vote. Second agenda item: Secondhand dealers license at 487 Moody St for Milano Gold Councillor Logan Councillor Logan moved approval with the condition that the City Clerk’s office receive the sign-off from the Police Dept. as well that the petitioner obtain the proper business certificate with the updated dba name on it. On the motion Councillor Katz asked about the location and if the owner buys and re-sells it; yes, he does and Councillor Hanley asked what percentage of his business is new v. resale. Mr. Melikyan stated 75% of his business is new jewelry with a 25% being a resale market. The motion was approved by a voice vote. Third agenda item: Secondhand dealers license renewal at 709 Main St for Neighbors Who Care Councillor Logan moved approval subject to the city Clerk’s office receiving the sign offs back from the Police and Building Depts. The motion was approved by a voice vote. Councillor Logan moved to take the secondhand dealers license application for L&V Collections located at 139 Moody St off of the table. The motion was approved by a voice vote. The petitioners were present and the Clerk’s office has received sign-offs from the Building and Police Dept. Councillor Logan moved approval. The motion was approved by a voice vote. Councillor Hanley moved to adjourn at 11:43 p.m. The motion was approved by a voice vote.
