WARRENSBURG ARTS COMMISSION Monday, November 2, 2020 Call to Order A meeting of the Warrensburg Arts Commission was held on Monday, November 2, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. at the Municipal Center, 200 S. Holden, with Chairman Laura Lockhart presiding Present were: Aerin Sentgeorge, Cindy Bechtol, Allison Robbins, Eleanore Eye, and Laura Lockhart. Absent: Jay Linhardt, Sarah Chamberlain, and Scott Holmberg. Establish Quorum A quorum was established. Agenda The agenda was considered. Aerin moved to approve the agenda, carried unanimously. Minutes The minutes were considered. Aerin moved to approve the minutes, carried unanimously. Introduction of Visitors Julie Kendall, owner, and operator of the Blackadder Restaurant, said she would like to request a grant for a hanging system to display art pieces from local artists that are for sale. She said with this system, the pictures are easy to use and replace once sold. Julie said the hospital has a similar system that is easy to use. Julie will submit a proposal for the cost and labor for the trac system. Other Business/Action Aerin said she received a proposal from Artist Michael Mistler for two contemporary sculptures on cement pads. She said the sculptures are timeless and very eye-catching. Aerin said she will obtain additional information. Report from Main Street Aerin said they have been brain-storming different ideas. She said they would like to create a selfie wall. She said Main Street is working on additional displays around the mural project between Culton and Pine Streets. Aerin said Scott is working on grouting the tiles on the boards. Finance/Budget report There was a motion to discuss the finance report, carried unanimously. Allison said she would. like to receive a monthly report, and Cindy G. suggested she call Marcella McCoy for the report before each meeting. Chair Updates Laura reported she put the agenda in google drive so everyone will see the process. She said. other committee members can send information this way. Laura said due to COVID, meeting. notifications must also be added on the website. Committee/Task Groups Updates In marketing, Eleanore said she is working work on press releases and she and Laura have. been calling businesses about displaying sculptures. She said Main Street, the Army Recruiting Center, Warrensburg Tourism, Joe Good State Farm Insurance, Brown Shoe Fit and Retro Grade, Rise, Blackadder, Trails, and Cruz. Laura and Eleanor will begin delivering the sculptures along with the signed agreements. Eleanore said the Strategic Plan has been updated to include COVID. Art for City Hall Aerin said she will reach out to City Manager Harold Stewart about artwork at City Hall. Community Theatre Update Cindy B. said many of the pieces stored at the building on Culton Street have been damaged. After discussion of the situation, Laura suggested Cindy B. e-mail the City, and copy her on that e-mail. Other Business Action Eleanore said she would like to propose two meetings per month. She said one could be the board meeting, and the other an action meeting to help determine what needs to happen during the board meeting.
